Whitney Houston "Whitney Houston: The Deluxe Anniversary Edition [CD/DVD]" (1985 album; remastered, with five bonus tracks and a DVD of music videos and interviews) (Arista/Legacy, Jan. 19, 2010) I just mentioned to a friend recently (or here on the Org?) that I wish some of Whit's early stuff would go to reissue/remastered status. TOTALLY stoked about Maxwell. I HOPE HOPE HOPE HOPE HOPE that they reissue Unplugged with ALL the songs, and a DVD of the show. Marvin Gaye "What's Going On: Rarities Edition" (1971 album) (Motown/UMe, Jan. 5, 2010)
I thought there was already an expanded edition of this? Maybe it's Let's Get It On.

Thats EXACTLY the cherry on the pie I just checked Amazon, and this reissue is deceptive. It's just the bonus live disc from the Deluxe edition of the album. This is not the original album with some rare tracks. 2010 stand-alone single disc release that contains all the bonus tracks featured on the second disc of the Deluxe Edition release of this album (ie: does NOT contain the original album, only the rarities associated with that release). Perfect for collectors who may have missed the double disc version or for those who are in search of all the great tracks that were initially exclusive to the Deluxe Edition. Rick James built on his late '70s/early '80s R&B chart success and poured everything he had into Street Songs, his fifth album for Motown. His hits from the album, 'Give It To Me Baby' and 'Super Freak,' were to dominate the charts for months. Just as the album was issued Rick, along with Teena Marie, did a mind-bending show in Long Beach, CA to promote the new LP. The band was hot, Rick was on top of the world, the audience went crazy. This 'Rarities Edition' brings you that incredible live show. [Edited 12/24/09 9:56am]

yeah,be careful, folks. These "reissues" are deceptive. For example,if you already have the 2-disc 'Street Songs' Deluxe Edition or the Diana Ross 'Diana' 2-CD Deluxe Edition, you don't need these new reissues. It's just the bonus disc from those sets, packaged as if it's something you don't already have.

I'd rather they remaster the "Fire It Up" album than repackage "Street Songs Deluxe Edition" with 3 new live songs, etc.
