Lotta whores in 80's videos. Pat Benetar was a hooker in "Love Is A Battlefield", and Tina Turner was a "Private Dancer". Penny was a courtesan too in the video.

I loves me some 80's Lionel though.

This is one of my favorite Lionel songs.

Did u guys ever notice how so many of his videos look alike and have similar themes. Running With The Night, Penny Lover, Dancing ON The Ceiling, Love Will Conquor All, all look exactly alike.

It's that chapeau and finger snappy thing he does. You know Lionel can't dance (like Will Smith), and that's his only move. Nice hat, emote, repeat as necessary (although Dancing on the Ceiling doesn't quite have that).

And every TV show had a hooker episode also....The Jeffersons, The Facts Of Life, Fame. That's what made the 1980s so great, whores were everywhere! The 1980s were the best.....men were women and women were whores. lol

To this day, that is still my favorite album cover of all time. And the inside pictures just as great. They make you feel like you're actually out on the ho stroll. lol

"Bad Girls" and "She Works Hard For The Money". I like to play them back to back along with "Working Girl" by Cheri, "Street Corner" by Ashford and Simpson, "What People Do For Money" by Divine Sounds, and "PIMP the SIMP" by Rick James. Whores honey! Whores! lol

I think "She Works Hard..." is about a failed dancer or something, opposed to a hooker like "Bad Girls". I just LOVE "She Works Hard...." though. Let's not forget "Darling Nikki". Not sure if she was a whore, but she was whorish at least.

It surely does. It is done in a classy way to make prostitution look "clean" and "fun".

I can't remember what the song was about, but you are about right. I read Donna's autobiography and she discussed how that song came to her and I can't remmber what she said right now. I do remember her saying that the Geffen company was upset with her for giving the song to Mercury Records. That was her last album under that contract and she had already signed to Geffen. Geffen wanted Donna to give Mercury a "bad" album to complete the contract, but Donna ended up having one of the biggest hits of her career at that time.

Wikistuff:
"She Works Hard for the Money" is a 1983 single issued by singer Donna Summer on the Mercury label. Released during a contract dispute with Geffen over creative control, Summer agreed to release her next album on a different label. The song, co-written by the singer, told a story of a woman who "works hard for (her) money". It was based on an actual encounter that Summer had with an exhausted bathroom attendant. Built on a rock-dance fusion, the song became a smash hit for Summer and one of the singer's signature songs, reaching number one for a three-week stay atop the R&B chart (her first since 1979), number three on Billboard's Pop Singles chart, and number three on the dance chart. It was a number twenty-five hit in the UK. The single went onto sell over 5 million copies worldwide.
