Ernie Isley!!! I know there was a thread about some of his solos about a month ago, but just came across these clips a few days ago of him promoting his solo album and I just had to post them. I'm so glad he's joining the Experience Hendrix tour in 2010 and I can't wait to see him!

Ernie Isley, totally overrated
like B.B. King, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana, Keith Richards, the other overrated guitar players...now King is good for single note stacatto blues lines, but he has no ability to expand beyon that...Isley sounds the same all the time - and totally boring...when the Isley Brothers play live, the second guitar player (whom also plays keyboards and saxophone) - Reggie Griffin, is one of the most underknown and underrated guitar players ever. Music Royalty in Motion

Godness It never ceases to amazes me how the people here get off throwing that word freely JUST BECAUSE, without any merit. But hey,,,it is what it is I guess. P.S. GREAT THREAD

Overrated? Maybe to one person but to us he don't get the respect he deserves. Oh well. Anyways... great guitarist!

I would recommend you listen to his guitar solos on the two Manchild albums, specifically, "Especially For You" from POWER AND LOVE and "If You Don't Tell No One" from FEEL THE PHUFF. He has done guitar work albums by The Sugar Hill Gang, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin and had a solo hit record "Mirda Rock" (which was kind of techno funk) under the name Griffin.
