CHER: BELIEVE I posted this in the best feel good song thread but damn if it doesn't deserve it's own special thread. As far as I'm concerned she made autotune really hot.

She made the vocoder popular again. Good song though. It was catchy, for sure.

She was always a thin girl back then. She was known for her dresses on that show. The first thing she'd do is walk out w/ Sonny, lift her hair, and turn around so everyone could see the dress 360 degrees. I believe Bob Mackie created all her gowns. He also created the costumes for her current Vegas show. Oddly, Bob Mackie also did all the costumes, clothing, and outrageous outfits on The Carol Burnette Show. Every single one.

I'm unashamed to say I love that damn song. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I absolutely LOVE Cher! It's in my profile...
People have clowned me for being into her, but I don't care! I remember watching the show when I was a kid. I loved her gowns! I also loved her voice... I have 3 or 4 of her albums on 8-track! **Have you ever seen the Bob Mackie line of gowns for Barbie? http://www.barbiecollecto...8&t=modern Plus there's a line of Bob Mackie Cher dolls. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I hate her computerized voice in this song. I don´t like it. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

And don't forget his finest hour in.. Mahogany And the stuff he did for her & girls back when they used to perform in The Hollywood Palace back in the 60s Mr.Mackie was RAISING hell.

Best song of 1999 and one of my favorites from her. It's also one of the last albums of "new" music that I bought other than Prince or Jamiroquai. Andy is a four letter word.

Who said she went away? You've not done your homework. She is in Vegas, doing her show at the Colosseum. http://www.cherlasvegas.n...hedule.htm <--- her schedule for the rest of 2009.

^ I know this! I meant a comeback in music. I want another CD!
She had hits with "If I Could Turn Back Time" in '89, then "Believe" in '99.....I was was expecting another album in '09. (I also really liked "Living Proof" in '01). [Edited 12/29/09 17:00pm]

Believe was co-written by Paul Barry. If anyone's interested he used to be in a band called The Questions who were signed to Paul Weller's label "Respond Records" in the early 80's. Here's a clip:
