It would be intersting to hear from teens on theorg... they are the "future market" and knowing how they purchase and listen to musci would be interesting.

I'm just nearly 18, and most of the stuff I find is indeed through forums and blogs. Occasionally I'll find something by listening to the radio, but for the most part, I don't like the radio much anymore, because I'm not into the hop-hop/R&B scene as a whole, nor am I really into what's on the pop charts. That's not to say that there aren't exceptions, but for the most part, I listen to alt. rock and indie pop/rock. Stuff in that vein, really. So the music I listen to isn't always the easiest stuff to find in your local record store, especially because as of late, I've fallen in love with bands whose records are now out of print, and it doesn't look like they're going to start re-releasing their albums any time soon. That being said, I do download music illegally, but if I like an album enough, I'll make a concerted effort to go out and buy it legally. Never in digital format though. I prefer physical copies of my music, as opposed to having mp3 files scattered across my computer. The last time I went out and got something legally that was a digital download was the last NIN album, and that was because at the time, it was impossible to get it anywhere else.

Basically, I find my music totally randomly, online, don't really pay attention to the charts, and I won't buy digitally. Also, I pirate music. So sue me. smile

let us enjoy ourselves, this rhythm is ill. i want to sit on your penis

It's not as bad as those over 30 say it is and not as good as those under 20 think it is

I'm 24, so my social circle is largely roughly around that age too. People who download the most, buy the most.

Interestingly, those downloading Top 40 acts are only downloading single songs, while those who go for older or more obscure acts go for entire albums or discographies. hmmm

I was a teen up until two months ago, and I buy all my music on itunes. But that's because no one has told me how to steal it effectively.

One upside to the digital download age is the fact that some out of print CD's are still made available through itunes; like Sarah Vaughans swings the Tivoli. I'd love to have the actual CD, but when not available, this is an interesting option that wasn't available in the 80 and part of the 90s.

Totally. There aren't any bands that are as innovative and exciting as Technotronic and Aqua. I miss the days when New Kids on the Block and Color Me Badd were storming up the charts.
