Despite what people say about "cheesy" or whatever, Michael/Ridgley were a great songwriting duo. The fact is whether you like or hate "Wake Me Up", you know it. It was catchy, fun, fun video.

George always wrote great tunes on his own. It's been great to hear his growth as an artist and as a singer. He's still one of the best voices in the industry. I hate that he fucks up in his personal life sometimes, but I guess I can't do anything about it. He's been good to his fans, despite going through an angry period in his life. I remember when he did an interview around the time for Unplugged, and he was just indignant about his sexuality and how it "is just not anyone's business!" He wasn't mean toward the report (which I think was Kurt Loder), but rather just the idea that because he's a celebrity, he owes everyone every piece of information about his life. To an extent he was right; no celebrity does.

As much as I love Janet on the female group of singers, George heads up the male group. The one person Prince or MJ should have worked with was George Michael.

Andrew Ridgley has been a bit more quiet on the music scene, but I think he and George still have good vibes towards each other, as there's really no reason for animosity otherwise. I do wish he had pulled out Andrew on stage during those last two London shows, for "I'm Your Man" or "Everything She Wants", just as a one last brouhaha for the sake of it. Fans would have went NUTZ.

Pretty amazing that Wham! only had 3 studio albums, followed by 3 compilation albums, and yet their legacy is always remembered as fun pop music. That is helped a lot by George being a big solo artist (the same way fans love old Jacksons music even more because MJ was a huge solo artist). Either way, Wham! has a solid place in music history.

By the way, the TwentyFive video set is SO worth the cost.

I loved Wham!...I remember having such a fascantion of the "Make it big" album back in the day..i still blame them for me being gay LOL! My grandmopther used to get in my bedroom saying I had a lot of cute guys on my wall....

It's too bad what happened to George. He should have done a dozen albums by now. But there is some kind of dissatisfaction that kept him from continuing to do what he did best.
