Musiq Soulchild or Bilal? I say Bilal. Musiq's stuff sounds the same to me "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

i'd say bilal. musiq has put out more stuff, but is rather annoying to me for whatever reason, save a song or 2. i loved bilal's first album for the most part, but love for sale not so much . he however is obviously the better vocally which really gives him edge anyways, so...
For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Bilal is a better vocalist and is way better live..but his songs don't move me...Musiq is the exact opposite..that one song they did together on Musiq's Soulstar album was ok..IDK..I'm going to call it even..

I vote for Bilal. Musiq, bores me. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Comparing Musiq to Bilal Oliver is like comparing crusty ass bread sticks to meat & potatoes.
Unfair, unfulfilling and down right frustrating

I'd call it even. I think Bilal may be a little more
versatile but he's lazy a lot like another artist who gets a lot of love here but is never heard. Musiq has at least been working and despite his limitations dude has been pretty consistent with his output. [Edited 12/21/09 7:05am] Don't laugh at my funk

I'd pick Bilal, but I just wish he wasn't so damn lazy with releasing new material. Musiq might be consistent with releasing new material but it all sounds like the same damn thing. Plus I've heard him life, and he was just mediocre to me...Bilal is much better. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

How can I say this..... Musiq is more professional but Bilal is more creative.
Musiq can come off bland but all his albums have some strong cuts. Bilal is all over the place which is why (a) he has difficulty getting a deal and (b) coming up with something that can showcase his talent in a commercial way.

I'll take Bilal, though I wish he had less ego & more material...
Seems like Musiq just got lucky w/ that first album, I haven't liked anything by him since. & his voice gets REALLY grating after a while, like a whiny kid that won't leave you alone.

It speaks volumes that Bilal has so much trouble getting his music out there but gets mad calls for guest spots on other peoples work. I did love Musiq's last video for 'So Beautiful'. That was an amazing track and proof of his talents. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I'm not crazy about either of them, but I'll take Musiq. Bilal's voice irks the hell out of me. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I don't think he is lazy, he just didn't have a deal, that's why he didn't release anything. He came out with Love For Sale in 2004 wich for me was great for what it was (demo material). His label didn't want to release that CD and he got fucked up. After 2004, he kept working with everybody in the industry (from Glasper to Jay-Z) and doing gigs everywhere in the US & Europe, he even worked with B-Cox in order to make more accessible music, but then again his label dropped him. He recently signed to Plug Research and went to the indie route, he still performing very often and his new album is set to be released on febuary.

He seems to be gettin dropped by the label alot..any reasons why?..Bad Material?..his drug problems?...whatever it is,I hope he can do better on this indie label

I agree with that. I don't think either of them are easy to market, but Bilal seems to be a tad bit harder to market. I think some of it is he is more of an acquired taste, whereas Musiq tends to do more "love" songs that appeal to the masses. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I remember when he 1st came out, they(record company) always linked him with D'Angelo I'm sure Mr.Oliver was @ all of that,,,,plus, the comparision might've hurt him because he's far from being a D'Angelo knock-off.

Yeah, if they don't have widespread appeal potential, labels don't usually want to deal with them. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
