Yep. Every artist that works with Prince always ends up on 'Where are they now' on VH1. Many of them still have a cult following but not crossover success. Wendy and Lisa are the only two that have been successful, and they have a cult following, etc.

And how it's that Prince's fault. You cannot blame Prince's penning a song to someones failed career. Either you've got the goods or you don't

Nobody said it was Prince's fault. It's just that, for whatever reasons, when he writes and produces a song for a female artist, their careers eventually suffer. They never have another hit single.Martika,Sinead O Connor,Deborah Allen,Ren Woods...you could make a list lol Some of these ladies,I bet you've never even heard of,lol.Lisa Stansfield declined a Prince-written song in the 90s,for this very reason.

for some reason,I don't think this would be an interesting collaboration shrug Maybe if it had happened in the 80s.

I would never want Prince to write a song for me. Prince is career posion. As long as he just writes songs for himself he's okay.

Co-sign 100!

And beside, writing a song with a 'certain artist' in mind is not exactly one of Prince's talents(hence the GARBAGE material he threw on people like Chaka, Patti, Mavis and so forth).

I think the only people who didn't get the raw deal as far as his material's concerned, are his protegees.

Writing a song for someone is a lot different than the protegee business. I think and have believed for years that he would be better off working as a songwriter for other artist. After all he managed to write some kick ass music for The Time, Chaka Khan, and Mavis Staples.

When?

I have them all,,,and the ONLY bright moment was "Come 2 My House". Bright moment, mind you,,,,but far from a "kick ass" esp in comparision to the rest of CK's discography.

As for Mavis,,,I'm trying to forget disbelief

Prince doesn't write songs for other artists,,,,he write songs for himself and present it for them to SING them. Thats hardly qualified him to be a good song writer for "other artists".

Part of being a good song writer for "other artists" is the ability to understand their range and personality and in result give them the material to compliment their talent,,,,I don't really think he put that into consideration.

Again though, his portegees were the ones who had the better material as opposed to the other big names he worked with.

Aint it tho? I thought I was gonna read one of those old interviews from Whitney's crack pipe days. You know the one where she and Bobby sat down for an impromptu interview in the mens' bathroom at Heathrow airport with Wendy Williams and they talked about that time they bought crack at a Mission Viejo day care center, the numberous bad weaves, the busted careers, the children Bobby refuses to claim, and that weird sex fettish she and Bobby had for Princey's toes. But nah....we get this run of the mill bullshit. lol lol
