What Is The Most Iconic Debut Single Ever?

"Baby Let's Play House" by Elvis Presley? Nah no one knows that but hardcore Elvis st@ns. "Love Me Do" by the Beatles? Eh...only a little bit more recognizable.

Or what about "Holiday" by Madonna? Oh yea, that's right-that ain't her debut single. "Everybody" is which failed to light up the charts.

I got it. "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5 has gotta be one of them. Most people can distinguish the boppy tune.

"Fallin" by Alicia Keys? Boy did that make waves when it hit.

But wait, wait, wait a minute. How can anyone ever forget the debut of Britney Spears, "...Baby One More Time." Was there anything more iconic than that?

Or what about one hit wonder crap like "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" by Soulja Boy? There's been plenty of parodies of it. I'm sure plenty haven't forgotten it.

Or how about newbies like Lady Gaga's "Just Dance"? I guess it remains to be seen how it ages in time. Or what about the arrival of Mariah Carey and her "Vision of Love" 19 years ago?

I need help. What is the most iconic debut single ever?

It depends on the time, i mean i could say "Dont Know Why" Norah Jones because this opened the door to ALOT of singers (female) to get through without having to sexy pop dance music.

Or i could say "Take On Me" by a-Ha, though one of two hits here, one of the biggest bands worldwide, it pushed the video envelope even further.

Though he had some songs out before, I still say Marvin's "Stubborn Kind of Fellow" was his best ENTRANCE into the music world.

Do-do-do...WOW!!!! Say yeah yeah yeah, say yeah yeah yeah... music

Really in your world it didnt, but why is it always on every single top 10 video all time alongside Mr.jackson and others ?? Dont even tell me it didnt change the fucking landscape of video, every dickhead in america was sucking on that video forever, just as much as they were "Thriller". So stop letting your narrow ass mind on bands and how the world is music and not just this little country, thats the frame of mind that viewed Queen as a small band.

Stevie Wonder "Fingertips"

The Doors "Light My Fire"

I know about Luther's previous work with Change, Quincy Jones and his own group, but I gonna say "Never Too Much". That was his official debut single though he was in the biz for years.

Same thing with Barry White. "I Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby"

The Commodores' "Machine Gun"

Rose Royce "Car Wash"

Rick James "You and I"

Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love"

DU "The Humpty Dance"

Whitney's "You Give Good Love"

technically not their 1st. but seems like everyone's stretching the term debut single anyway. lol. so how about, CONGA by Gloria Estefan/MSM.
Dr. Beat was a dance chart hit. but i don't think they were widley recognized until Conga. so i'm going with that. biggrin
