Another thing is I don't think she wanted to go down the sexy road that Britney and others went down. Mya kept doing the same thing over and over, while Britney started kissing Madonna and went crazy. Her sounding like a mouse didn't help either. she really did sound like a hamster. and her eyes were scary big.

Silkk the Shocker, not crisco. I think they're right. Her first single was with Sisqo and Dru Hill. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Funny how most of this convo is revolving around her looks I don't know ONE song by Mya, & can't remember the melodies of the songs mentioned here so I'mma guess she lacked material, hence the fizzle I thought "Chicago" was gonna be more of a launching pad for her - though her part was small, she was great in that movie. She should keep acting & dancing.

Well I like Mya. I remember she was a big deal when I was growing up. "Best of Me", "Fallen", "Ridin", "My Love Is Like Whoa", "It's All About Me", "Case of The Ex" and "Movin On" are my favorite songs of hers. "Ghetto Superstar" was also a big hit in the late 90's which Mya sang the lead on, that song was everywhere. Mya's had a few hits. "Moodring" is my fave album of hers. It should have done better.
I hope she continues to make music. [Edited 12/22/09 16:35pm] "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

Rappers fucked Mya up. She has a bad industry rep for being a hoe. To top it off, there was a point when she had the chance to be more and she went the "strictly urban" route and now she is where she is. To be honest, "Moodring" was a good CD and should have gotten her more press but she was done by then. Her voice is thin but she can sing well enough. (Better than Rihanna) A lot of her singles were lame and that hurt, too. Add singing hooks on rap songs to the list and you have a heap of fail.
For what its worth, I don't watch dancing with the stars but I'm 99% sure a 30-something Mya is a better dancer than a 80-something Donny Osmond. (type-os fixed. sorry.) [Edited 12/24/09 10:47am]

pretty on the eye, yes good dancer, quite a few of those around but thats about it Me neither. I was actually surprised when I saw her in 'Lady Marmalade' because she wasn't half as popular as the other acts there (at least not in Europe)
