She isn't the best singer in the world and she can dance and for a bit in the late 90s, she seemed to be going places, but then, nothing. I mean, I guess Dancing with the Stars helped raise her profile, but I don't think she will make some huge comeback

Bullshit on the singing part, can Rihanna sing? MYA is viewed as old, she was like Ashanti was, everyone claims they hate them and yet everyone begged MYA to throw a lyric on their song back in the day. The only reason Mya is indie is because she got dropped by Interscope. I think she recorded about 2 albums worth of material before they dropped her.

If you really think about it, Mya doesn't have the same appeal that a lot of other acts have. Rihanna was made to have that appeal. They tried it with Mya when Moodring came out and it just didn't work.

I don't think Mya can sing (like a lot of other acts out there), but the girl would be a good choreographer and dancer. It would be cool if she could do something like Toni Basil did.

Once Beyonce went solo and started blasting the music charts there was a decrease in female R&B singers having the popularity they once did.

Rihanna is the only but she came after the Beyonce era

but 2001-2004 was the worst time to try to be a famous R&B singer because of the music industry pushing Beyonce

Ashanti was the one who came along around that era but she just dropped because she could not compete and plus Murder Inc. got flat
