It's Chaim Witz. He changed it to Eugene Klein when he came to the US with his mom Florence Klein, and her brother Larry Klein, taking his mother's maiden name. His father, Feri Witz, didn't come to the US. He later changed it down to Gene Klein. When he changed to a rock n' roll name in the late 60's, he took Jumpin' Gene Simmons' name, who was a rockabilly performer. As a side note, Jumpin' Gene died in 2006.
