Janet owning her master for "Make Me"?

Did u guys notice in the liner notes for Number Ones that it states that the master is owned by Queendom. It also says that on iTunes when you go to purchase the video for the song. Any news on this? I didn't see it mentioned in any of the threads.

it's probably her incoperation, like Boy Toy Inc. To avoid self employment taxes Coperations are set up and than the star is given a pay check through it.

Yes, the work she has been doing with Jimmy & Terry and Rodney is all self-financed, so she will own the masters.

she owns both the Publishing and writing rights to her songs under blackdoll.

when you write a song the publishers and the writers get money.

so like Michael was getting 50% of Beatles royalities as the publisher and than the Estate of Lenon and Paul were getting 50% as writers.

that's why writers have publishing companies Blackdoll is probably a subsidiary of Queendom

You have a RECORD COMPANY and a PUBLISHING COMPANY mixed up.

RECORD COMPANY deals with the recording itself. While the PUBLISHING handles the actual song. Therefore if someone records a Janet song she has written, Janet will get paid for it.

No, I understand now. I just thought Black Doll was her own record company because I remember some fans suggesting she go independent under her own label BlackDoll. Anyways, nice to know she has her own publishing company.

she has i think since at least Control though i wanna say it was originally called BlackIce, it's industry standard. Madge has Webo Girl, Prince had Ecnirp than Controversy Music and now Emancipation Music, Michael has MiJac, JJ and TL own Flyte Tyme, and on and on

That makes no sense, that she'd be on part of the credits, and not the others.

it's whatever is registered with BMI or ASCAP that matters, because that determines who is paid, not the liner notes.

Either way, the point of one of the questions was to know who owned Queendom, and that's been answered. If Janet owns her more recent masters, good for her. She should have went Indie for Discipline and stayed that way.
