...I read it a few months ago.

Great tales indeed.

If you can find The Birth of a Band (Vol 1&2) you'll really enjoy it.
The best i've been able to run down is a complilation of both volumes and it's incredible.

I read this when it was first published. infact I may have to have another read of it as was so long ago since I read it.

fantastic book, & such a huge talent. . . as for his private life (he could give Hugh Heffner a run for his money giggle
Life has a way of making you live it. . . .

I think that resonated the most with me. I read it years ago but I still replay those episodes in my mind whenever I think about this book.

He told the truth about Michael's skin lightening. Floons hate his guts now.

I'm a massive fan. His work on film soundtracks like The Pawnbroker is just as great as albums like Back On The Block (an underated gem in my opinion).

Seriously.
Quincy's musical legacy is so much deeper than 3 MJ albums.

What does he have at least 50 albums (not even counting his arranging credits)?

Read it. Great book. biggrin

It really feels like he is speaking to you, directly, and REAL, and
not trying to be phony about what matters to him, and what he was
feeling at the times in his life the book refers to.

I must catch up 2 this book...

His arranging with Sinatra and Count Basie were off the hook.

As an arranger for a singer, says Jones, he is above all trying to make the vocalist sing better than he or she ever has before. He thinks he has been so successful because he knows, as Frank Sinatra described it, how to push their buttons: "That certain major seventh note that you go to a minor seventh on — just certain things musically that I know that emotionally it turns them on, 'cause it turns me on too."

Sinatra himself bestowed Jones' nickname upon him. He called Jones from Kauai in 1964, saying, "Q! Would you consider doing an album with Basie and I?" Jones says he asked him if the pope was Catholic. Even with all the star power around him, Jones says he didn't feel any pressure once they began work; instead, he felt love and a part of something special. "We just loved working with each other," he says of Sinatra and Basie.
"He's a musician's musician..."

Read the autopsy report. It clearly shows that Michael HAD VITILIGO.
Besides, don't you ever call me a floon! I've accomplished more in my young life than you will EVER accomplish in yours. By the time I was 6, I would wake up at 5 a.m. and without anything in my stomach (since I was VERY POOR), I would go to school by foot, since any of my parents had a car or could afford to buy a bus ticket. Today, I'm in the 3rd grade of the Medicine degree and receive lots of $$$ for being one of the best students in the University. You are the floon here. Not me!

Not a floon, don't hate his guts at all.

Keep perpetuating your myths.

I thought you'd left Midnitemover, can't hide my disappointment. confused

HIS AUTOPSY REPORT CONFIRMED THAT HE HAD VITILIGO. Did you even read my post or did you just try to be cool by using the against factor?

Fantastic book? You aren't literature-oriented, are you?

Dude look at it this way. QJ is hell bent on MJ not having the disease cuz of his own insecurities about marrying white women and having kids with them etc. 2pac dissed him for it in a magazine and Q confronted him... Like you said it was there in the autopsy report, perhaps Q was having a hard time forgiving MJ for dying the way he did.
