Maybe she'll do like Mariah or Madonna. Madonna is the queen of compilations. We've had dance compilations, ballad compilations, remix compilations, and 3 greatest hits packages (Celebration, GHV2, and Immaculate Collection). So far, J only has 2. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I agree. I think the Numbers Ones was sort of born out of the need for a second Design of a Decade thing. It's been 13 years since Design, and there have been plenty of songs due for a compilation. Numbers Ones kind of fills that void, although many hard core JJ fans would argue certain song's inclusion or deletion. I would have rather not seen Number Ones, and waited a bit for a big package of hits. Probably after her 2010 album. Let 2011 house the greatest hits package #2, then just hit with another new CD in 2012 (you know, before the world ends). Even Mariah has a bazillion compilations it seems, plus deluxe remix extended special edition albums. Mariah's so fucking predictable, she's like the black Beyonce. While I enjoyed Mariah's The Remixes (I made a mix tape of the club disk, which frankly...rocks), it still wasn't that comprehensive. Stuff is always missing. Years ago I had put online an idea I had about a fan made Janet compilation. I'd compile and burn everything, create art work. Everyone who contributed with get a disk set, plus the digital artwork for printing. It was their job to pass it along, for free and no cost whatsoever, to pass along the songs to other fans. The goal in the set list was comprehensive of ALL and EVERY remix released, and every B-side, and every single time she appeared on someone else's song. It'd be a huge disk set, similar to The Work. I even thought if we could get the outtakes and leaks together, I'd have included that as well. I just never found the audience to get it started. It would have been brilliant, quite frankly. Not because I thought of it, but rather because it was put together in general, and was out there for fans to enjoy. My only real rule was the source of the songs had to be a CD or vinyl or even a cassette if necessary. No MP3s. All files had to be traded on either CD or lossless compression when sent to me originally. I wanted the best quality I could find for each track. I'd still like to do that someday. | |
