I didn't know I had to do "research" in order to post on this board. I take music seriously as well, but I don't put down others in the process.

When you call a music legend like Roy Ayres obscure I'd say it's time to do a little research. Nothing wrong with research either, you'll discover so much great music that way, I did.

So he is a legend. I knew Centric couldn't be getting off their path of showing legend shows only. lol I don't know much about Roy Ayers other than his 1984 song "In The Dark" and another song or two and also that he played on Rick James' "Dance Wit' Me".

I knew they wouldn't get off their legends kick though because that would be too much like right. lol But if they insist on playing just the legends, then they need to play THE episode from the funk legend Rick James. Back when "Street Songs" was out, they did a tribute episode. All the songs for the dancers were Rick James songs, the Scramble Board answer was Rick James, and Rick James performed. I can't remember if he performed all four songs or if he performed two songs and the Stone City Band performed two songs. There was an episode though where The Stone City Band performed and so did Rick all in the same show. You would kill for that episode there.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know the name of the mix that was played during the Soul Train line?

I Believe that was "Uptown Festival" by Shalamar joshb80

This was a great episode, I wish UPN had showed this one back when they showed Best of Soul Train back in 06-07, I hate how Centric chops up the episodes

Thanks Abdul! I'll definitely be looking for this song.
