This show ran just about 80-85minutes. Sorry but if you have that kind of catalog, charge that much, you better be playing 2-2+hours at least. Trey Songz opened for her i hear, did a set, then she went on a little after 11 and was done by no later than 12:30, no encore.

A 90-min gig without an encore? If you ask me that's weak, that's just plain weak! confused

totally agreee, its weak for the amount of catalog you have and the fact that you force Trey Songz on the audience. People lumped down cash for her not for him. I mean i know its New Years and a special gig, blah blah blah, but so was Billy Joels "milennium concert" ten years earlier and he played 3+ hours with no opening act, and yes Billy is far different than Mariah, but $$ is $$ and if people are paying big $$ give them something

I'm definitely not a Mariah fan, but I think having an opening act and then performing for 90 minutes is pretty standard for the music business and concerts. It doesn't seem that unreasonable to me.

From the setlist there though, it seems she could have done a few more hits and older songs.

It depends on the artist, to be honest, this is a short show, when you take into account the fact they stopped at midnight, had a break too,i felt this way on the MIMI tour when i got hit with 2 opening acts, im sitting there like, i u got 10+ albums and you cant play enough so i dont have to sit through Busta ryhmez? Lets be serious, people say the opener is to warm up the crowd, well, if you got 10 albums or so and cant warm up a crowd yourself and hold them for two + hours, theres an issue, REGARDLESS of perform, Mariah is by far not the worst in the this. But people wonder why acts Elton,Billy,Jovi,Prince etc...top years tour lists, well its because people know they will get a show of "the artist" and not a snapshot and medleys and two artists you think i might like.

also, that set list should be more for a televised special than an actual concert tour. but i hope all who go have a great time and enjoy themselves. and report back.

I don't understand where you're coming from at all. Yes, there are a few artists that play in excess of two hours, but the majority of concerts I have been to are 1 hour 1/2 to 1 hour 45 minutes. For me, personally that is the perfect length. Any longer than that and I tend to get restless and bored. That amount of time gives you plenty of time to do a significant number of songs unless you are doing some kind of extended remixes.
Making a concert longer doesn't make it better. Singing is hard on a person's voice. Too long and then the vocals aren't as good. I think it's better to make it shorter and make it good.
Madonna is the top grossing tour artist and her concerts are about 1 hour 45 minutes.
I don't like opening acts either. But no one is forcing you to sit through them. I will often show up a little later so I don't have to see the opening act. But having opening acts is pretty standard in the music business. It gives more artists work and the ability to perform before bigger artists than they otherwise could.
I think some people just like to complain and are never satisfied.

Well actually then you need to see different artists, and that whole opening act thing is false, you take an opener to fill the time, not to help you sell tickets, the whole idea is for the opener to not upstage the headliner. U can have ten openers for all i care, you just better be delivering 2+hours (and yes that is a show, seen Prince 79 times and hes never done less).

And its dumb to say "complaint" SHIT people on this fucking forum cry about a $4 cd they download that has 6 out of 20 good songs and yet its ok to put down 200 bucks on a show and get something thats 35 minutes longer than the opener played,WTF? double standard is that? I mean can everyone just stop handing passes to their fave diva or icon just because they are who they are. 90 minutes (which it even wasnt) is a short show, its 10 minutes longer than a cd that cost 10$ and you wonder why no one buys tickets and these venues are half full?

As for the 90 minute average thing, U need more research, heres some of your top concert makers and none play anything less than 2 hours, and honestly if you cant handle 2 hours of your favorite artist, they arent worth your time and maybe you dont dig them at all to begin with.

Prince
BonJovi
The Eagles
Elton John
Billy Joel
George Michael
Beyonce
Tim McGraw
Hall and Oates
Chicago

to name a few, a 2 hour show is not a fluke, its what you owe

If you truly like Mariah it was a festive evening.

I think it ran a little later than the Janet Jackson New Year's concert I went to (Tony Toni Tone opened), started about the same time.

We Belong Together, It's Like That and Emotions were crowd favorites altho I particularly loved the Love Hangover/Heartbreaker rendition (especially the beginning) and Subtle Invitation. Overall there was great energy and I think it ended in time for people to still go and party afterwards.

I knew this wasn't a show to necessarily support Memoirs so I expected a variety of songs--a Vegas show that she took to the road for the fans who love the old and the new.

I agree that I get tired and restless after around 1.5 hours of the main act, because most likely I've sat through forty five minutes of some opener I didn't want to see, and often an intermission of 30+minutes. I would be more than happy to see the act I paid for perform for nearly 3 hours, its all the other stuff that tires me out. Ticket prices do matter to me as well, as with most issues- if pay more I expect more. I don't see all that many concerts but the last few I have attended had the following main act times:
Q tip- 1.5 (free), Soulive 2+($35) Maxwell 1.5 ($90), Youssou N'Dour 2 ($30)

like i've said before, i would love to see her live, but never have because she just doesn't seem to tour that much or her shows are canceled. i don't know. and since we live in a time where you can find out set lists before attending a show...well i'm just not that excited over the list. i prefer some of her less successful tracks or non singles. and i thought this tour might be a bit heavier on "memoirs..." i do like mariah, so far have all her albums but now i'm just not sure if i want to.

Yeah, I always tend to prefer non-single tracks in from artists in general and then I see the majority of people responding are the fans in the front row and a few scattered elsewhere. I hate when a performer does a non-single and only a handful of people seem to know the song. Makes me wonder what all the other people are doing at the show. A few times I've been the only person in my section jamming to a favorite. lol
