missfee said: Here's a bit of trivia 4 ya.....Claire Fischer did the string arrangements on this one....B.E.T. used this as a jingle 4 their 15th Anniversary in 95'...and I think Najee turned it into a smooth jazz instrumental... While we're lookin back on 3T's last great album/era, I always thought this song should've been on "Sons Of Soul" as a bonus/cassette only track.... It's soul revelation at it's best for me. Yeah...Imma sap & flame away...but I can't get thru "Holy Smokes" without shedding knowing tears. One of the 50 or so albums I genuinely love from the heart. House of Blues is classic. I feel like it was an interesting throwback record without being a straight imitation like Saadiq's later "As I see it".

Right that's how I feel about it. That was a classic 60's soul sounding record but at the same time sounded modern and not as if it was 100% from 1966 or something. That's how I view "As I See It"...it's too 60's like (with the exception the song with Stevie Wonder on it). I think they hit the nail right on the head with "House of Blues" in accomplishing that type of sound. "Wild Child" and "Lovin' You" is my shit. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
