MOL said: "Rock With You alone got more recurrent airplay than all the songs from Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory combined"- See, you KNOW you are lying. But, hey (!), thanks for the laugh. [Edited 1/17/10 8:51am] Its true. Why would I make it up? You know what recurrent airplay is, right? Old songs being spun. Look at Michael's catalogue sales for the years before he died. Off the Wall was selling about 2x more than Bad and Dangerous combined. but Bad has 5# 1s and Dangerous has his biggest chart hit on it and his biggest R&B hit. So why did OTW outsell them? Because it gets higher placing on critics lists, the reviews are almost all glowing, and... recurrent airplay. Rock With You and DSTYGE were his 2 most played songs, even more than the songs from Thriller! Remember the Time abd YANA also got good airplay, but nowhere near the OTW songs. That's why OTW sales were so strong over the years. Its only after he died that Bad and Dangerous have seen a resurgence.

sleepyq said: MOL said: Girl, you are completely and utterly wrong. Your entire post is absolutely false and ridiculous. When it comes to sales and popularity NO ONE can beat Michael. APOM missed the top ten? The Bad album had 5 #1s (!), yet you chose to ignore that fact! According to RIAA and IFPN (and common sense and knowledge), Michael sold WAY more than Janet will ever sell. According to RIAA and IFPN, the J5/Jacksons sold WAY more than Janet ever will. But there's something that isn't even debatable: Michael's popularity. MJ was always more famous and popular than Janet (and any other artist in the world) and you KNOW THAT FULL WELL. "Even Michael never ejoyed something like RN1814 in the US."- Even Michael haters would laugh at this. Are you that removed from reality? Let me be a little redundant: Michael was, is and will always be WAY MORE famous and popular than Janet. He reached a level of fame and popularity that no artist in the world has ever enjoyed. Not even The Beatles. Not even Elvis. Not even Frank Sinatra. Janet, on the other hand, is as famous/popular as N'sync or Justin Timberlake. She isn't one third of what her brother was, is and will be and, when it comes to popularity and sales figures, you know DAMN WELL, that she can't even be put in the same sentence as Michael Jackson. YOU KNOW THAT DAMN WELL. Sorry for the reality check! It may be too much for you to handle but Michael is MUCH MUCH MUCH SUPERIOR than Janet, Madonna and Mariah IN EVERYTHING. And guess what? Your three idols agree with me. So? First of all- The Beatles are more popular than Michael by far. So he is #2, not #1. Second- you are talking about 2 different things right now. I said J5/The Jacksons are not significant sales wise. I never said Michael was insignificant! I never said Janet was bigger than Michael- you brought that up, not me! Janet has sold more records than J5/Jacksons. They were not as successful as people here want to pretend they were. The bulk of Michael's prominance, fame, and sales comes from his solo career, not whatever he had with his brothers. This is a Jacksons thread, and I noticed a lot of people here think The Jacksons could be wealthy off of royalties. I just posted numbers to prove that whatever money they have- it is certainly not from J5/Jacksons money. Its Michael's solo career money. I would say Janet as well... but we all know she doesn't put up with that shit. She's too smart to let her family leech off of her. Unlike a certain someone. Bles him, though! No, they are not. Michael has always been more popular and famous than the Beatles. Need proof? Sales (even during the trial) and the Jacksonmania was always bigger than the Beatlemania. Stop being acritical and start thinking for yourself. The Beatles are higly overrated (but, shhh, don't let the British media know this...ok?). Besides, in the late 60's, in the 70's and 80's, they were everything but popular. BTW, do you know who was the most famous person in the world in the 80's and 90's? She's too smart to let her family leech off of her. Unlike a certain someone. - YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! I agree with this. At least, we agree on something. Michael was amazingly, massively, fantastically talented...but he forgot to have a brain. It's a shame! I gotta give kudos to Janet for keeping a safe distance and successfuly protecting what is rightfully hers. Unfortunately, Michael...didn't do the same.[Edited 1/17/10 9:05am]

In the beginning I was with the show, but I'm even now regretful at tuning in. It's not that this is a messy show making the family look bad, but at the same time, reality shows are tailor-made for families like the Kardashians and the Lamas because they have no shame in making a fool out of themselves. The Jacksons are not like that, they are not funny, engaging, or appealing in that way. So I think a second season would be monumental mistake, you tried brothas, but it's a wrap.

They're so normal that this show is, I hate to say this, boring. They should have done a retrospective documentary series about the old Gary days, the Motown days, Epic, Triumph Victory, Michael, Janet solo success, Latoya's troubles, coping with the loss of Michael, the next generation, etc. [Edited 1/17/10 19:05pm]

It made me so sad when they went to MJ's gravesite. I'm so upset and i'm just a fan. I can't even imagine what the brothers and rest of the family are going through.
As far as the music goes, Terry Lewis is absolutely right. The group will NEVER be the same without Michael. You just can't replace someone like him. However, as he said they can regroup and come together in a new form, whatever that may be. I heard that A&E has offered The Jackson's another season and I hope they accept. I enjoy the show and I do hope they can finally come together and record another album/go on tour. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

However, I think at this point, it should not be about "replacing" MJ, but going in and making good music. I think Jimmy and Terry know that. Greg didn't seem to. I also got to thinking if Jimmy and Terry have any left over MJ vocals laying around? Would be cool if they could incorporate some of his unreleased vocals in a song as a tribute. It also would be cool if Janet did backgrounds on one song. That would be a good payback for them doing backgrounds on her 2nd album. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Terry talks a good game but will the Jackson brothers themselves finally DO it or would they let another 10, 20 years go by without progress? I'm not confident they'll do anything. I'm just not there yet, sorry. And if Greg Phillinganes don't see it (thinking that's who y'all talking about) then he's sure not alone. The Jackson brothers (the four of them) are gonna have to prove to THEIR FANS that they can CARRY ON without the man that served as the heart and soul of the group for 45 years.

They need a meeting on what the theme of an album. Then each brother (Randy included) takes 2 weeks to produce 2 tracks, with melody, lyrics, and vocals. They take a month to sift through the 10 songs, record 6 of them, and distribute a free EP via their website (which has links to their old albums on Amazon. The search traffic will pay for the EP). They tour clubs 300-500 seat places, on the songs from the EP adding in their solo hits and a few Jackson5/TheJacksons songs to the set. After the Youtube videos go up, they'll know if they should continue toward a full album.

That would be a good way to go forward. I also think their best shot is working with Jam and Lewis because that song they did with the other 2 dudes sucked. Just that small piece Jimmy Jam played was a much better fit. Jermaine is acting like a jerk. He should let the more level headed brothers, (Tito and Marlon) broker any deals made on behalf of the group and stop with his hair brained schemes on the side. I do think he should sing lead though. I would only be willing to watch a second season if more music is involved. That's the only time the show held my interest. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.
