The other thing we need to ponder is Bobby DeBarge hit it and P didn't.

No sir. Randy is distancing himself away from his family, mainly his older brothers.

i think it's both. as i posted before, in order for jermaine to "shine" in this series, we have to go back to the jacksons circa 1969. the group that emerged from the ashes of the motown 'hit machine' was several times removed from the j5, but jermaine has nothing to do with ANY of that. in order for jermaine to be a part of this series, the jacksons have to be downplayed and the j5 have to be played up. randy can't be a part of that group dynamic or the series b/c he was never part of the j5 (formally) and the producers want to focus on the original lineup for the familiarity, since most people who aren't fans only really remember cute little mj and his brothers from the early 70s and probably couldn't tell you the difference between the j5 and the jacksons.

in addition, why would randy want to be a part of this series where his contributions to the jackson 'dynasty' will be marginalized? he was a very integral part of the jacksons continued success as a group and along with mj and jackie wrote some good material for them. the other brothers, particularly jackie, must know this and like vainandy posted a ways back, why can't randy and jackie come up with material for the group just like they did before?

Was Marlon referring to Randy or Jermaine when he said that he was not the brother that cheated on his wife?

harsh, but true.

he's talented, but not like mj was. he had some chart success, but i can't really say that his songs are classics. he didn't continue to try to work on his craft, even doing session work, so he doesn't really have a career anymore to speak of. and sadly, although he thinks this is his moment to 'shine' now that mj is out of the way, he will only invite unfavorable comparisons to mj if he uses this moment to try to crawl his way back into the spotlight.

I can't believe Prince (according to Latoya) once fell in love with this corny-deluded human being!

I know THAT! rolleyes lol But I referring to how almost no one in the media is mentioning his name at all. It's as if Randy never perform with his brothers at all.

I don't like how this is being played out on reality TV. Just saying.

When Michael first died, I actually thought Jermaine was hurt more than the rest of the family but his real intentions were really showing through last night. He wants to be a star and is trying to use the timing after his brother's death to become one.

And if you notice last night, all he kept talking about was "trying to get a hit" with the record. That was his only concern was getting a hit. Well, these days, a hit is shit. The song the guy had for Jackie was waaaaay better sounding than the one that Jimmy and Terry had been working on which sounded like a shitty shit hop mess. I would actually buy the one the guy had picked out for Jackie (if they don't ruin it before they record it) but I wouldn't touch that Jam and Lewis track with a ten foot pole.

Do you kinda agree with me that a Jacksons reunion album can be funky if it's only Tito, Marlon, & Randy making the tracks?

Personally, I would only want Jermaine & Jackie to focus on vocals and that's it.

They've got personal problems. Randy and Jermaine have children who are half-siblings instead of just cousins. I guess Randy doesn't want to be involved at all. disbelief

I've always notice that Jackie & Randy were the strongest links when it came to composing that Jacksons sound with OR without Michael.

Also "Walk Right Now" and "Torture" Jackie had a hand in.

That small part Jackie was singing on last night's show reminded me a little bit of the "And I just can't stop this feeling" part on Torture.

Jackie:
can you feel it
Your ways
Walk right now
Time Waits for no one
Wait
Wondering Who
Torture
He was also supposedly involved in the songwriting of almost all songs on Destiny.

Jermaine wrote or co-wrote a lot of his solo material:
Take his album "I like your style" as an example:
A1 I Gotta Have Ya
Written-By - Jermaine Jackson , Michael L. Smith , Paul M. Jackson, Jr.*
A2 I'm Just Too Shy
Written-By - Jermaine Jackson
A3 You're Givin' Me The Runaround
Written-By - Jermaine Jackson , Paul M. Jackson, Jr.*
A4 Paradise In Your Eyes
Written-By - Jermaine Jackson
A5 Is It Always Gonna Be Like This
Written-By - Jermaine Jackson , Rita Coolidge
B1 Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours
Written-By - Lee Garrett , Lula Hardaway , Stevie Wonder , Syreeta Wright*
B2 Maybe Next Time
Written-By - Jermaine Jackson
B3 I Can't Take No More
Written-By - Clarence McDonald , Jermaine Jackson , Paul M. Jackson, Jr.*
B4 It's Still Undone
Written-By - Jermaine Jackson
B5 I'm My Brother's Keeper
Written-By - Elliot Willensky , Jermaine Jackson

Jermaine also wrote and produced for other artists including Switch

These two gems were written by Jermaine:

Katherine once said that Michael always used to imitate jermaine when he was little. That becomes cristal clear when listening to these early recordings of Jermaine's voice before it changed.

I don't know who the best songwriters of the brothers besides Michael are but the most proven ones are Jackie, Jermaine and Randy. The problem with Jermaine's songwriting though is that it never was highlighted on the Jacksons albums on Epic. Jermaine did show that he was capable of writing Motown soul as well as bass driven funk though.
