Sade has managed to keep her trademark sound and keep it current. Is a performance at the Grammys too much to hope for?

Preach.

I know Sade didn't mean it this way -- and she doesn't even appeal to the same demographic -- but the whole war march thing as her lead single totally gives me the feel of some ruler coming back to lay waste to all these little wannabe divas running around with their studio gimmickry, bad weaves, T&A and pathetic guest appearances by lame rappers and such. disbelief

And just look at the photo of that woman. faint Confident and sexy enough to blow a hole through you! And not one ounce of trashiness.

I hope some of these young acts are taking notes.

And I thought I was the only one on this planet who missed the trademark Mathewman sax sounds on her last album Lover´s Rock. That last album really disappointed me but I can´t wait to hear the new one. Speaking about Mathewman, I think he and Maxwell should collaborate again.

Glad she's back.

I find the snare a little jarring though. And not much of a song there.

I missed it, too. Giving the song a second listen, it is not what I´d like to hear from her. It´s good, but I am still missing the sax there as well. It is more a Lover´s Rock type of record. Haunting, with not that much melody. It´s still great, but I tend not to listen to a haunting music that much. After a while, I don´t go back to it. I am still looking forward to the new album, though.

I like the new cut, but after a few listens, her lead vocal is buried a bit 2 much in the mix. The drums and guitar R mixed curiously high, and keys way 2 low. Diggin' the minimalism, and the trademark touches.

So very true. The production is okay but not okay enough for a Sade song.Sounds like it´s cheaply chopped together by some young and upcoming hot producer of the moment. I like it , but not that much. And the soldier/march sounds are a bit irritating, even though they´re probably meant to strenghten the theme of the song.

I can see why you'd say this.

I'm certain this won't be anywhere near the strongest song on the new album. But my guess is, after nearly 10 years off of the scene, the intent was to lead with a single that would grab in today's environment... and yet not totally betray Sade's classic sound. The whole war drum thingy and the trendy production are attempts at this, I suspect.

Tell Hamsterboy to drop by and say hello. It'd be an awesome holiday present to the org. nod

It´s nice. But nothing worth waiting 10 years for.
