Man, I thought this was going to be about a new Chaka/Rufus set coming out. I love Sweet Thing...I was listening to it all day today. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

The only additions I would make for my own personal satisfaction are Smokin Room, Little Boy Blue, and Earth Song You're welcome and I hear you G-M-G. However, you need to cut out this Howard Hughes-recluse type mess. We need some hep up in here. Lovin' this thread as I used to go see them regularly in the early 70's when they were still a bar band doing covers on the north side of Chicago.
Couple of pieces of errata for y'all: Chaka's real name is Yvette Marie Stevens and the original name of the group was Ask Rufus which they commemorated years later by giving that title to an album.

Seriously, these albums are VITALLY ESSENTIAL to anyone who considers themselves music lovers. I mean this band was so unbelievably tight and to top that off with that lead singer?! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

BTW, you shouldn't settle with the "Rufus Ft. Chaka" period only, the Chaka-less albums are pretty damn good as well Some cool female singers featured in there, Lalomie Washburn(Writer of Chaka's I'm A Woman(I'm A Backbone)) and the ORIGINAL Rufus diva before Chaka, Ms.Paulette McWilliams.
