I was at this show at the Long Beach Arena...Rick's Street Songs album was out and hittin' through the roof. This was one of the best concerts I had ever been to. Rick at this stage, was a straight Superstar, rock star, funk star and every other star you can think of.

nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

I loved Rick during this time! I saw the show here in San Diego when I was 14 or 15. I was just discovering Teena, and to this day she still blows my mind and gives incredible shows! Good memories!

I want this show to be released on DVD!! It looks incredible! I remember in the summer of '81,Rick was ON FIRE! 'Street Songs' was the hottest,hippest,most-played album of that summer.

The "Deluxe Edition" of Street Songs (disc 2) has some great live tracks from this period.

Essential listening for live audio PERIOD. The band, the music, the show, the crowd.....SO glad that material got released.

For those that missed Rick during his peak, this shit educates. Check out the live version of "Mary Jane" alone.

"Awwwww L.Ayyyyy".....his live presence is sorely missed.

This is the show that should have been released on DVD instead of the one in Germany. That made no sense whatsoever. Anybody can see the audience in Longbeach was much livelier and the show was just better in general. Not to mention, Teena Marie was in that show also.
