I've always loved this song. It definitely shares a vibe with some other things Quincy Jones was doing around that time, like Off the Wall.

Good song, reasonably good album.
....Not wanting to sound harsh, but for the time it came out, this album has always struck me as a 'poor man's Al Jarreau record'. Jarreau's early 80's albums are amazing. As a side, the album they did together a couple of years back is good value.

Great tune. No doubt an 80's classic. Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

Absolutely! Rod Temperton's songs are what drew me to Quincy Jones' productions at the time. This is one of many Temperton classics. The Off the Wall and Thriller albums would not be the same without Temperton's songs.

Yep,he wrote this.He has a real knack for writing songs about going out on the town to party "Boogie Nights" by Heatwave...."Rock With You" by Michael Jackson...."Razzamatazz" by Quincy Jones and Patti Austin..."Spice Of Life" by Manhattan Transfer. All of these songs capture the excitement of nightlife.

I love this jam. I was even more surprised to find out that the solo in the middle where George is scatting is not George but Lee Ritenour. In an interview I read Lee says that George put down the solo & left the studio & Quincy erased it by mistake & was too nervous to call George & tell him so he called Lee & Lee came in & did it & George didn't notice a thing.
