Chris Brown: A Comforting Black Face On A Problem No One Really Cares About?

We are still talking about the Chris Brown/Rihanna mess almost a year after it happened?

Domestic violence is a horrible thing. But the way this story is being pushed in the media you'd think Chris Brown was the first man to EVER hit a woman? Is the fact that he's a young black male make it all the more acceptable to exploit? It's a shame our black celebrities have to be so dumb. It makes it all the more easier for Chris Brown, who more then likely isn't going to be an abuser, gets frequent comparisons to such winners as OJ Simpson and Ike Turner. Speaking of exploitation, whether OJ killed his wife or not did that really constitute the trial being labelled the Trial of the Century?

Last time I checked women are being killed in the U.S. everyday, some well documented on tabloid news shows. It always seems to be a white woman and her seemingly nice husband, and the story fades from memory. Then we have Chris Brown who never really had a history of violence and would be a fool to continue one, being loudly hated across the globe.

Now every time a women gets beat there's that nice, comfortable reference to Chris Brown. Is it necessary? He's been called illiterate and ignorant. Why stop there.

I know that the public falls in 3 camps; Fans who liked him before like him still. People who never liked him hate him and now feel justified, and casual listeners who have most likely been swayed to hate, with lack of airplay easing the transition.

I just don't know if all the hate is warranted or if the media scrutiny would be so intense if Chris didn't supply the image the media needs to make an issue out of a problem that doesn't seem to start and stop with him.

There's a 4th, and I believe a much larger camp.
Folks that didn't care about Chris Brown (a percentage who didn't even know who he was. Rihanna either for that matter.) before the incident and still don't care about either (celebrity wise) after the incident.

They were also are well aware of domestic violence (male & female/regardless of race) before this particular incident.
