They really needed to establish themselves as a decent male group without Michael. Jermaine was doing well and could help them along as a group until he messed up. Well yes, what else could they say?  In all circumstances whether it's been The Beatles, The Supremes, The Temps, TCL or members of a family as Cinnie has noted, this usage is correct, proper
I kinda hate to bust some bubbles but Randy will always be an afterthought. When people think of the Jackson 5, The Jackson's period.. it will always be Michael, Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie and Tito. Like you, I'm aware of Randy's talents and his contribution to the group but he'll never be considered a spoke in that wheel. The little brother how played the bongos/congos in the background. No different than The Supremes... I bet if you ask most people to name The Supremes they would say, Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard. I doubt if many could recall Cindy Birdsongs by name or even bother to say, 'Oh, yeah, Birdsong she replaced Ballard'. No, many if not most would name the orginal members'.

The Jacksons are Michael, Tito, Jackie, Marlon and Randy. In the last several years The Jacksons could be any incarnation of all of the brothers since they’ve all worked together in various formation; the main component being that they were indeed Jackson brothers. I wonder about the possibilities of a new Jacksons album. There must be some old Michael vocal tracks lying around within the Jacksons possession. I know folks are interested in a 'new' MJ album, but this could be an option too. |
