These Days (Jon bonjovi with Prince on guitars) http://www.youtube.com/wa...Ur4gUnbyoQ if u cant tell me if Prince or Rosie did the opening scream for Gett Off, then u are not purple !!!

I don't hate them, but I would never buy a record by them because their style of rock is not what I enjoy.
I like more alternative harder types of rock. I think a lot of people hate them because they feel they are too commercial and corporate. They seem to follow a formula without being very creative or having anything meaningful to say. Also, to me they don't really have a style of their own. A lot of what to do seems to be copied from Bruce Springsteen although they don't do it as well.

I think Jovi have carved their own place, lets face it, if you are from Jersey and you do rock, you are always gonna be compared to Springsteen, whether you play a bar or you play a stadium. As for having something to say, that can be debated, on a track like "Hey God" they were talking about teens blowing away teens with guns, sounds pretty relevant to me. I think something Jon said in the documentary "when we were beautiful" fits very well, he said "im not here to preach to you", the reason the band has maintained its status, and has multiplied it worlwide, is that it writes what goes on, now this may be called playing it safe, but its also safe when Prince does a song like "Call my name" i mean thats painting by numbers for him too. And whether people want to admit this or not, it does take talent to be able to write a 3 minute rock song, and have hooks in it, and i mean write it and actually play on it too. Are they the greatest band? No, we can all debate all day who that is or isnt, but i think Jon most of all was smart enough to get by in this business when its lived and died a few times, the bands with them back then are all gone or fat or doing VH1 reality shows, or dead. So if you hate them, thats cool, i mean alot of people hate RadioHead and they are one the most critically acclaimed bands, so everyone has their place, and Jovi as a band do have talent, like them or not.
And the latest album is very strong, tracks like "When we were beautfiul" and "Bullet" and "Superman Tonight" are relevant, it sounds like a band that has LIVED some life and is writing on what they know. Life isnt always some mysterious lyrics, its many times pretty straight forward "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Lyrically, they mimic the trappings of mid-period Springsteen without any of the insight. The scope of their music seems to be limited to hair-metal, sappy AC ballads and mainstream-rock-by-numbers.
I see little to recommend them unless you're a female or gay male who finds Jon Bon Jovi attractive. Not trying to be insulting; that's honestly how I feel.

Is that a view after listening to every track on every album and seeing shows, or is that a view after hearing hits and seeing girls scream for the band on videos? Oh not true, i have every Radiohead album and im not a "fan" nor would i champion them as the greatest band ever which some people do. You see that kind of nonsense is why i dont listen to reviews, truth is a FAN is someone that will give you a better view than someone that has heard a few songs. AND IT WAS A QUESTION to the poster, look at how it was constructed, its BULLSHIT that a fan cant have a view on a artist, but someone that hates something and always has is given more note. Again not true, im a mariah fan but she hasnt had a good album in her career, so wheres the bias, or now im not a fan because i pointed that out? i mean neither is logical. If i want someones view on an a new Ryan Adams cd im not going to ask joe schmo who thinks all his stuff is boring, i want a fans view of the artist they like and then i will have to USE MY MIND (sorry i know its tough for people to do that in this age of 30 second snippets before buying bullshit). And sorry most critics are biased more than a fan, look at Jim Farber of the Daily News, hes the worst, i'd rather ask a stray cat what they think of a cd than this fucker who claims to be a journalist. Is that a view after listening to every track on every album and seeing shows, or is that a view after hearing hits and seeing girls scream for the band on videos? That's a view after hearing countless songs on the radio and seeing some live stuff on TV. Somehow I doubt that listening to their entire catalog and/or seeing them in-person is going to reveal hidden songs of lyrical depth and/or musical ingenuity.

I try not to hate anybody. That being said, I strongly dislike Bon Jovi. You can't even compare them to GNR in my opinion.

I don't mind Bon Jovi's older stuff, but they have done nothing good in the last few years...time for them to stop with the new music
