Tribe called Quest or De La Soul? Which do you prefer? I am going with Tribe. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I have favorite moments w/ both. I went through a mini hip-hop phase in 1990 when I lived in Los Angeles. It was weird. I was buying up everything from Tribe, to De La Soul, Queen Latifah (who was very new on the scene, but I loved "Come To My House" and "Fame" with Bowie), Kid N Play, and more. I think I was just desperate for something different. There was a big flux during that time w/ music, so I had snatching whatever I could that was interesting to me.

De La, hands down.
I like Tip a lot, but the ideas in De La's rhymes make his look like grade-school stuff.

For me, it's got to be the Tribe. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Wow you must know little Tribe. They sampled a lot as well. De La hands down. Classics: De La is dead Buhloone Mindstate Stakes is high The Grind Date Yes, Tribe samples. But it is the way they use the sample, this is the difference. Tribe use the sample like true Mc's spittin' on an instrumental track. They use the track to help tell the story. De La, uses the sample like a dj would. It is not part of the story, it IS the story. With De La, one can get so caught up in the beat, that the rhyme can get lost. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Both. its ILLEGAL to force someone to choose btwn these two. Fans of one are fans of both. Was just listening to Midnight Marauders from Tribe, it has aged quite well. Wrong to make ppl pick, just WRONG
