Toni Braxton Album Due in February

October 30, 2009

After a headlining show in Las Vegas and a stint on “Dancing with the Stars,” Toni Braxton is returning to music with her first album in over four years. Now signed to Atlantic Records, the Grammy-winning R&B superstar will unveil her sixth studio album on February 2, 2010.

“Atlantic Records has a rich heritage of great soul voices, from Ray Charles to Aretha Franklin, from Otis Redding to Roberta Flack,” stated Atlantic Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman. “Last year, we had the rare opportunity to bring another R&B icon into the Atlantic family, and for me it was an opportunity of a lifetime. Toni Braxton is not only one of the greatest voices of all time, but she is a charismatic superstar with an incredible list of achievements.”

The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2005’s Libra features collaborations with Frank E (Madonna, T.I., Plies, Flo Rida), Steve Mac (Leona Lewis, Il Divo), Lucas Secon (Britney Spears, The Pussycat Dolls), Harvey Mason & Oak (Chris Brown, Joe, Mario), Troy Taylor (Trey Songz, Kevin Lyttle), Dapo Torimiro (John Legend, David Archuletta, Brandy), and David Foster (Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion). Trey Songz also makes an appearance, dueting with his labelmate on the first single “Yesterday.”

A video for “Yesterday” was shot earlier this month in Los Angeles by filmmaker Bille Woodruff, known for directing “Un-Break My Heart” and “He Wasn’t Man Enough.”

Please please PLEASE don't do that dried out, lame R&B bullshit that is bombarding the airwaves for the past 10 years. Stick to what you do best in music.

I agree.Toni has an amazing voice but she wastes it on second-rate material, sounding like all the other crap on the radio.

I hope she goes back to her sound on her first 3 albums. She lost me with the last 2 albums, even if some of the non released tracks were well done.

"Yesterday, the lead single from the CD. The opening chords sound vaguely familiar.

Yeeesh, that's horrible.

It sounds like a Rihanna song or one of those posers. I'm not excited about this.

Too bad for the future of R&B !!!

Toni needs to leave shit hop alone and make a genuinely *soulful* R&B album. Her best album is her debut. It was warm, soulful and unpretentious...it actually sounds more "mature" than the whack, shit hop stuff she does nowadays.

I'm crossing my fingers that it's one of those alienated tracks, meant to get people into the record, opposed to the whole record sounding like this. If the whole thing sounds like this bullshit R&B fuckery that's out today...I'm going to be writing a letter to Ms. Braxton.

Why is she wearing an underwear in this picture. Those "sexy" ladies are getting very boring.

As for the song, if there wasn´t written Tony Braxton, I´d believe it was Rihanna. eek

I love her first album. I wish she´d make music like that. Where´s Babyface BTW? Is he still making music? We need him back.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

The song isn't bad, but I feel like I've already heard it before. I think she has a nice jazzy voice and should have moved more into that direction.

Exactly. This has to be produced by one of Rihanna or Leona Lewis' producers.

Let me go cue up her first album to remember just how good she is, instead of this nonsense.

I downloaded 1 song from The Heat - an instrumental lol Secrets was half good, I liked the last one though most people didn't. I'll stick w/ Toni as long as it's not totally stupid.

No he only produced like one or two tracks on the
last 3 albums including the Heat which was her
last good album.

that really was her last good one. I was excited about the 4th but was disappointed with the music so I didn't bother buying it, same with TLC's album that year, but Girl Talk is a nice song. I found it funny how both tlc and toni were bankrupt in the 90's and how both of their albums in 2002 flopped
