It's Gone! I just can't think of any music or melodies or beats anymore. My creativity is gone.
A few years ago, I could just sit in the room and come up with a track just like that. That's cause I was in school and after school I'd have a;; day to mess with my music. Now, I work and am away from the house some 12+ hours a day. When I get home most of the time, I just wanna chill and after that than go and mess with some music. But instead of all-day, I have maybe 1 or 2 hours at best and by then it's goin' on 10 or 11 PM. And even on the weekends and on breaks like now, I can't think of nothin'. I'm in my little studio right now, and can't put nothin' together. It's been like this ever since I got this job. PRINCE: Always and Forever

It seems having nine-to-five jobs crush someone's creativity. I might as well work at home or something. Sorry about that. Hope it comes back one day.

2 get yourself out of this writers block try listenin 2 a lot of music u havent tried yet on down 2 the stuff u might not like as much. The more out of the box u start thinkin or the more frustrated u get from the garbage u hear, you'll be comin up with so many ideas you gonna have 2 keep a pen and pad around 2 sketch your ideas. I would agree with that approach. It will comeback you'll at somepoint adjust to job and I'm certain you'll be able to take the stress from work and create music. Wait tell you get married and have a kid, for 2 1/2 years all I could do was play scales. ===== [Edited 11/29/09 14:26pm]

Not thinking about it is what usually helps me. When I stop worrying and pondering over what on earth I should write, then it suddenly comes, the brilliant idea. It may take a while, too long for your liking, but it will come to you. In the mean time you go on working, listen to lots of music, read texts, listen to people's stories and do everything else that is inspirational.

The writing is not the problem, it laying down a track ... PRINCE: Always and Forever

One day I might play along to Ernie Isley's "Back To Square One" and the next would be Rob Jungklas's "Hello Heaven" lol

The writing is not the problem, it laying down a track ... Well, I thought it could be the same with the music.

My mixtape will be online soon so I will let everyone know when it drops. Just take a break for a while. It will come back.

There's a difference being being creative, or feeling creativity, and actually creating. If and when you want to lay some tracks, do it. Let the creation be whatever it is going to be. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I've been going through the exact same thing. I don't write music or anything but for the last few months, when I get ready to play something, I can't think of what I want to play or where I even want to start. After putting my music in the computer, I usually play music from the computer more these days than actually playing the physical vinyl or CD because it's easier to simply type in what I want to hear rather than search the stacks for it. Well, in order to do that, you have to know what you want to hear so you can type it in. I need to just start playing the vinyl again so that I have to physically thumb through it and see something that might spark my interest.
It's not like the old days when new music was good. Back then, I mainly played the newest and most current stuff and would throw in an old jam if I felt in the mood for it. But these days where the only good music is old music, that means there is years and years of stuff to play and I don't even know where to start these days. I look at my collection and become overwhelmed. Andy is a four letter word.

I've been coming up with concepts but because of laziness and school, I haven't put much to paper. In the past 2 months, I've only written like 6 songs:
If Only I Could Find You Stargazing Leaving For L.A. Autumn Child Somewhere In Time Foolish Ways "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

After I write the some. I have a melody already in my head, but now, it's not coming out. Hell, I'm in my little home studio right now ... It's like when it's time to do the do, nothin' ... I'm like ol' boy from American Pie. PRINCE: Always and Forever
