and like most rap artists his skills would have declined to a level lower than they already were with every album released.

you like biggie, whatever.

but to say he is one of the greatest (simply due to the mystique of his death) just doesnt add up.

i cant and im not trying to change your opinion im just stating the fact that i think you should expand your musical horizon when it comes to hiphop because biggie is one of the most overrated rappers of all time in my eyes.
You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

Whatevs!

If people think they can take shot at one's credibility for enjoying Biggie's music and try to fog their argument with "music snobbery",,,so be it lol another day in orgville, I guess shrug

I personally don't have to prove the range of my musical taste just because I happen to think that Christopher Wallace was a gifted rapper. And to say that all people are partial to him because of his early death proves the fact that some folks here get off simply by making these vague, pointless, redundant generalizations JUST for the hell of makeing them, period shrug lol

But hey,,,it is what it is.

Biggie only has a handful of songs anyways

his flow wasnt versatile. he sounded clumsy on the mic and his rhyme schemes were very basic.

his catalog just doesnt hold up when compared to GREAT mc's such as rakim,nas,bdk,2pac,deltron,mos def, gift of gab, freestyle fellowship, etc etc.

best mainstream rapper? maybe.

best rapper?

No. Not even top 20. sorry.

eek
I don't get ya at all. Biggie flowed in a pocket like no other. Akin to a great jazz player as previously mentioned. Clumsy?? Maybe it sound like that because he had a slight lisp but rhythmically he was layin it down!

Kinda agree to a certain extent that he didn't broach deep in terms of subject matter ala Pac (sometimes). But you know what they say, it's not what ya say it's how ya say it and BIG sure said it in a captivating manner.
Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

I think he was good but I prefer Tupac over him

I think Tupac is the better and more prolific artist by far, but I've never thought Tupac was that great of an MC to be honest. Just very passionate and for sure a good artist, but Biggie is the better MC imo. His flow is much better.

I like both though.

I have always felt the same way. nod

and for the record, Biggie was already viewed as one of the greats before his untimely death. You don't have to like him, but just respect his contribution to the game. He was truly in a class all by himself.
Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!
