Lady Gaga mentions Prince So...It took me a long time to admit that I liked her, but for the past week or three ( ) I've been playing her music like crazy and watching interviews on Youtube. Earlier today, I was wondering if she liked Prince or was inspired by him, and I guess I've found my answer. Thought I would share. (Sorry for the long-ass, unnecessary intro.)

Here's the song she mentioned. It reminds me a bit of Cloreen Bacon Skin.

It's at around 3:50 Who cares who she's influenced by musically? She doesn't even make her own beats. She could swallow my throat yogurt though. She has nice ass Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

Apparently, Gaga writes all her songs and does the music. She's been playing the piano since she was 4 and did the playing-at-clubs thing artists do.

It has been a long time that I have been enthusiastic for a new artist. If you listen to her older work or live performances that are around, she can actually sing extremely well. Based on her current popularity she might be able to break loose from the commercial ties (the industry needs her instead of vice versa). Maybe, who knows. Maybe a ATWIAD, right after PR?

I don't "get" Lady Gaga. I'm all for the costumes, I like the theatrics, and she seems like a nice person. But I'm missing what her "talent" is, unless it's her ability to create spectacle. She also seems to me to be much older than her reported "23" years. I will continue to follow her for a time though, in hopes of learning what the buzz is all about.

23! Who said she was 23? I know that heffa aint tryna role back her age. Wasn't she already 26 when that MTV joke happened? You know that show they had where they purposely aggravate people to see how long one can control their temper. And um....is she bleaching her skin? She was once very tan and dark and now she's very white and light. Some Sammy Sosa shit going on here.

well, she writes good and catchy pop songs. that requires some talent, imo I absolutely respect your opinion, but I haven't heard the good or catchy parts yet (though apparently enough other people have). Doesn't mean she won't eventually win me over though, and I remain open to that possibility. What HAS caught my attention though is that she seems unusually respectful, and that goes a long way in my book.

23! Who said she was 23? Wikipedia. (...though I must say, she looks more like 33 to me, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing - she just seems older than what's being reported)

I didn't"get" her either I saw her last year in concert when she was the opening act for the new kids on the block... (If invited...), I think I would actually enjoy attending a live performance by her. Although, for what I enjoy of live performances (the costume & set changes, the special effects), you could plug anyone into her place and I would enjoy it just the same. But I haven't heard anything that's been recorded by her that I'd spend one dime on (...yet).

(...though I must say, she looks more like 33 to me, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing - she just seems older than what's being reported) she looks to be in her thirties to me as well. but hey, a female can't ever be her real age in this biz...always gotta roll the clock back a decade. Because of her looks however, she would have been more believable as a 27 year old.

A lot of her stuff just sounds the same. I guess that's part of her appeal though.
I do admire the fact that she seems to write down the first thing that comes into her head. Her Christmas song, 'Christmas Tree' sounds like it was made-up as she went along; the lyrics are juvenile, but amusingly so. That 'Video Phone' duet with Beyonce is the strangest thing I've heard in ages. It's the sort of music that makes you feel drunk when you're sober. I'm undecided about her at the minute. And yeah, she looks like she's in her thirties to me too.

Journalism student and Cherrytree Records member Xandra Boersma recently interviewed Martin Kierszenbaum (Cherry Cherry Boom Boom) of Cherrytree Records on the subject of Lady Gaga, you can read the full interview below.
1. What was the first Lady Gaga song you ever heard and what did you think about it? I'd heard portions of songs like "Boys, Boys, Boys" and "Paparazzi" but the first full song I heard her sing was the song we wrote together, "The Fame," in the studio. 2. What did you think the first time you saw her? She walked into my office with black hair. She was gregarious and dynamic. We talked music and especially a lot about Prince. We connected musically in terms or our influences and approach to pop song writing. I thought she was extraordinary from the very first time I met her. 3. Why did you decide to sign her on to Cherrytree Records? We connected creatively and our work ethics are similar. I believed in her talent and potential. Most of all, I could see that I would enjoy working with her. That's a key to it for me. If it's fun, it usually works. 4. What’s it like to work with Lady Gaga? It's an absolute pleasure to work with Lady Gaga. She is talented and has a handle on what she wants. She has a vision. I consider it a privilege to collaborate with her. 5. You produced and written a lot of Lady Gaga’s songs (correct me if I’m wrong). Do you get to use your creativity or are there certain rules you have to stick to while doing that? The only rule I have is to follow my heart. Of course, I studied music and practiced. Honing those skills fascilitates the process of making music and enables one to channel the feeling one is trying to communicate throught the music. 6. How do you start writing a succesful Lady Gaga song? Are there any things the songs specifically need? We follow our instincts. We talk a lot about what she wants to convey and we focus on achieving that through the music. We also take great care to keep the process fun and flowing. The best performances are captured like that. 7. What do you think is the secret behind the succes of Lady Gaga? It's not a secret. It makes clear sense. Lady Gaga has an extraordinary set of skills: She is a consummate musician, song-writer, designer, illustrator and conceptual artist. She has a great ear AND a great eye: a rare and formidable combo. 8. Did you expect this succes the moment you saw her? I didn't expect it. I believed in her ability to realize it wholeheartedly. Those are 2 different things. I saw the potential in her ample talent. It's been her hard work - and the teams' around her - in applying that talent that has made her a success. 9. What is your favorite Lady Gaga song and why? Ha ha! That's a tough one. I like so many Lady Gaga songs. I love "Just Dance." To me, it means "no matter what hurdles life throws at you, you improvise and get through them. You persevere ... you just dance." That's how Lady Gaga is. It's inspiring. From the songs I worked on with Lady Gaga, I really like "Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)" because it has a wistful melancholy feel while still being upbeat. I like those kind of songs. They capture the bitter-sweet aspects of life. 10. The latest Lady Gaga single, Bad Romance, is pretty different from the rest of the things she made. Especially the video. Why do you think this is? I think all of her works are different from each other. She is continuously growing as an artist and exploring different areas. Bad Romance is another wonderful push of the creative envelope from Lady Gaga. 11. Her personality comes across as quite extravagant. Would you say she’s really like that or is it all an act? Lady Gaga is who you see. She's always dressed like that. She come dressed like that to the studio and to the office. Always. She is outgoing and kinetic. That's her personality. And she's always like that. It's not something she turns on and off. She is always Lady Gaga. 12. What do you think is the biggest misunderstanding people have over Lady Gaga? I can't answer that. You'd have to ask people. I do think that sometimes people get focused on her ability to harness technology both visually and aurally and that may sometimes overshadow the fact that Lady Gaga is an accomplished musician and brilliant singer. 13. What is something not a lot of people know about Lady Gaga (on the musical field)? She's really witty and funny. But people could probably surmise that from her performances and songs. 14. What makes Lady Gaga different from other glam/pop singers? She is skilled in many areas. She has a broad set of talents. 15. If you could describe Lady Gaga’s music in one word, what would it be and why? Unique. Lady Gaga is a true original. Those are hard to come by.
