I know he married a 15 year old girl and has an affinity for young girls and that's all I need to know about him as a person. R Kelly and Aaliyah (since i know thats the 15 year old girl) were NEVER married. Both R Kelly and Aaliyah have denied the marriage. ANYONE can open up Photoshop and make a fake marriage paper. Don't believe the hype Oh just because they denied it mean it's true? What were they supposed to say about the scandal, yes we were married? Reality check. USA Today is the most reputable newspaper in the country and they produced a copy of the marriage certificate. Sorry but the marriage was fact. The two were on Video Soul back in 94 or 95 wearing matching Mickey Mouse long sleeve shirts. Now you damn well that shit isn't coincidental. Furthermore;it's been well documented that the parents and both parties had the marriage annulled after the parents found out. Isn't it also coincidental after all the shit came to light that the two didn't work together again. Nevertheless the last thing this dude recorded interesting was Turn Back the Hands. The only thing that separates R. Kelly from a lot of artists is that he let that tape get away from him.I am sure there are a lot of tapes securely locked in vaults. He didn't invent pissing and screwing underage girls. Rob Lowe, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Marvin Gaye get a pass huh? Upper persuasion for the lower invasion

Absolutely not but just because R.Kelly makes a idiotic record for his fans to screw to or shake their ass to gives him a pass huh? Don't laugh at my funk

It wasn't brought up in 2003 so I'm more inclined to believe it wasn't true. Plus R. and his brother stopped talking then.

But lets not get this shit twisted He can't even live up to Marvin Gaye's pubic hair, as far as music is concerned Those critics you guys are talking about are the same fools who said that Beyonce is the "New Tina Turner" Lets not allow stannery to cloud our judgement, people

If you mean the wording; to put emphasis on my point. If you mean my point; ANYBODY who compares R.Kelly to Marvin Gaye is clearly clueless about the music of the latter,,,,and that some people would rather follow the critics who love to feed into the hype machine and make "lazy comparisions" instead questioning these comparisions by listening themselves to Marvin Gaye. R.Kelly's music is the R&B tampon,,,,a BIG SELLER indeed and easily disposable. Marvin Gaye's music is the R&B diamond ring,,,,,timeless. [Edited 12/1/09 16:43pm]

R. Kelly passed Marvin artistically years ago.The only comparison is the fact that both are/were R&B crooners that sang songs about love and sex and also how socially conscious both are/were. The similarities are uncanny. It's your opinion against Marvin wife's, Ron Isley, Charlie Wilson, Smokey Robinson and many other R&B greats.

[Edited 12/1/09 16:43pm] I disagree, just because critics and many others compare him to Marvin Gaye doesn't mean they're clueless about Marvin's music. R. Kelly is one of the only artists out that people can dub a "Soul man". A name given to artists like Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway and many others. But the similarities are there. Both R. and Marvin Gaye grew up from a rough background with the influence of the black church and they evoke/d that in their music. And I don't fully agree that R.'s music is just disposable music. He's brilliant marketing artist because he changes his sound to fit with today's listeners. That's the only way he can sell or any artist for that matter. After all, he's a POPULAR R&B artist so it's a must. But when he's on his game, he's one hell of an R&B artist (Chocolate Factory, His self-titled album, 12- play, etc.)

Yeah, I heard... You're cool in my book, dude But lets ge one thing straight; Roberta Kelly couldn't come up with anything 1/4 as Whats Going On if she died, got cremated, and came back as the second coming. I'm sorry, thats a STANDARD that never got tampered to this day. Either you got it or you don't, this motherfucker got ALOT of gibberish but THAT he clearly doesn't.

A bunch of plastic bullshit. Hey, I like some of his music too But being a rough background's offspring does not make you a "New Marvin Gaye" Its the saaaaame thing when they said that Alicia Keys was the "New Roberta Flack" when she 1st came up Reason? She plays the piano

Roberta Sylvester Kelly wrote one of the greatest songs of all time and outdid himself by remixing it- Okay, okay on the real though I think R.Kelly is far more creative then Marvin. I know NOTHING won't come close to Marvin's "What's Going On" but you can also say nothing will come close to some of the songs R.Kelly wrote and produced. Marvin is Marvin and R. Kelly is R. Kelly but I think some people just say he doesn't compare to Marvin because of his thug persona or whatever. I'm sure 30 years from now people will say "So and so doesn't compare to R. Kelly". Many are doing it now with the Gay Thongz dude
