I used to LOVE "Gotta Get You Home Tonight" & "Don't Say No Tonight", bought a greatest hits (which I still can't believe he has, lol) just for those two. Anybody remember him? Chocolate skin, cheap tweed suits, a curl MJ would have killed for??? MEMORIES, y'all! biggrin

Speaking of curls, what the hell happened to Carl Carlton?? :O That song was straight COMEDY, and being shirtless in the video was priceless! worship

Gotta Get You Home Tonight & Don't Say Not Tongigh are also 2 of my favorites from him but he also had one called Diana that was very nice. A little trivia for the record Carl Carlton's She's A Bad Mama Jama was a hot track but some people don't know that it was James Ingram And Howard Hewett singing the chorus, it was very early in their careers.

I remember Eugene Wilde and Carl Carlton! Funny how everyone remembers Carlton for "Bad mamma jamma," but how soon we forget "Everlasting Love":

Open up your eyes
Then you'll realize
Here I stand with my
Everlasting Love
Need you by my side
Girl to be my bride
You'll never be denied
Everlasting Love

btw, I didn't know about James Ingram and Howard Hewett singing the chorus! Speaking of Ingram he had a brother in the group Switch. (Did you think they were ALL Debarges? biggrin

"Ron Broomfield, aka Eugene Wilde, seemed ready to become a megastar in the mid-'80s. The Miami-based vocalist, who had formerly been with Life, had a resonant, authoritative voice and very confident manner. He scored number one R&B hits in 1984 and 1985 recording for Philly W. Records. "Gotta Get You Home Tonight" and "Don't Say No Tonight" were lyrically predictable, but expertly produced and sang with plenty of suggestiveness and sentimental appeal. Wilde scored one more Top Ten hit with "Diana" in 1986, but switched to MCA and soon lost his momentum. Wilde later sang lead vocals for Cabo Frio on their Zebra/MCA LP before trying again in vain with I Choose You Tonight in 1989." — Ron Wynn

Didn't he do an awesome jam called "I'm In Love" (NO, not the jam by Joe in 1991), or was that Lillo Thomas?

They both had funky hairstyles either way! (Let's not get in2 the irony of that last comment!!!)

"Break My Stride" is by Matthew Wilder (1983),it's one of my favorite songs too.

As for Carl Carlton,"She's A Bad Mama Jama" (1981) is a KICKASS song, one of the funkiest jams from the summer of '81.
