Did Jermaine accept that award on Michael's behalf of for himself?

Sorry Jermaine and Latoya are really starting to annoy me. They jump at any opportunity to get some attention and publicity. The way Jermaine accepted the award at the AMA's seemed like he was having a moment for himself and what's up with brining his kids there on stage with their fucked up names. Sorry just needed to let that out....Anyone else hav any thoughts on this??

yeah i guess i can see why MJ didn't really feel that close to him. it's just very sad to me and i actually like jermaine as an artist but i'm just skeptical about his behavior.

I felt the same when i saw it. I mean, why couldn't Janet accept the awards, as she was already there? Every time there is an award for Michael Jackson, Jermaine is there, like he represents Michael...its annoying

exactly. i also was hoping janet would have accpeted this time. it just would have been more appropriate. maybe she wanted to and jermaine was like "hell no bitch, youre already performing in the show. it's my time to get some shine"!

I didn't see the AMAs, but the general question is something I've wondered about as well. It's like nails on a chalkboard anytime I hear Jermaine say, "...Yeah, I was Michael's backbone; his mouthpiece." headache It didn't seem like MJ was at a loss for either.

I'd never claim certainty, but it feels like Jermaine is trying to convince both the public and himself of a past as functional as he wishes it were.

Truth of the matter is Michael and Jermaine were close
especially during the early years. Michael was even upset
like Jermaine when Daddy Joe chose to sever ties with Motown.
Michael felt like Jermaine was his right hand on stage.
Did you see the reception Mike gave Jermaine when he joined
the brothers on stage for the first time in a decade at
Motown 25. Michael's relationship may have been strained at
times with some of his siblings later on but let's not act
like this is unusual for normal families. In a nutshell, who's
to say that Jermaine wasn't there in support of Janet and Michael.

I asked my wife the same question myself last night. He gets on my freakin nerves. I was cursing my tv out as I watched him again, make something related to Michael about him. He desires that limelight sooooo bad its obvious. DAMN, work N*****. The family need to designate another family member to represent them because Jermaine just rubs people the wrong way. Its not about you dude.

I digress.

Yeah...Motown 25 was at the beginning of the whole Thrillermania thing. When Michael's career shot lightyears beyond anything Jermaine could ever hope to do, I think he got jealous and that's when he started pulling shit like "Word to the Badd"

During the Victory tour, watching the fans get up to use the bathroom during his solo set is what probably pushed him over the edge.

Michael may have been closest to Jermaine during the J5 years but in later years MJ seem closest to Randy out of all his brothers. Randy seem to be the only brother who toured with him during his solo tours, although he didn't appear on stage with him. And wasn't Randy staying with MJ at MJ place at the time of his death?

I just feel Jermaine feels his out of his brother shadow now, although I do believe he was sadden by the death of his brother. He has decided he will be the main spoke man for the Jackson family and keep MJ legacy alive, but at the same time gloriying his time in the limelight.

You should hear the bootlegs from the Victory Tour, especially the Los Angeles one when Jermaine's section comes in lol

He does:
Let's Get Serious
Dynamite
and Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin' (Too Good To Be True)

during Dynamite, you hear people saying "I didn't know who this was" "Who's that?!"

Then the intro from Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin' comes on and the crowd goes insane lol

You need to hear the bootlegs lol If I was home I'd upload the tracks for you on Youtube. There is very little reaction to Let's Get Serious, none for Dynamite (except for confusion) but Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin' gets alot of love, and you have to turn down the volume when Michael flys back on stage

You can tell muthafuckas were going to the bathroom or gettin' some strawberry soda during Jermaine's part lol

this video from Madison Square Garden will have to do until I get to my hard drive lol

Oh, and I'm officially hatin' on you for actually being able to go to the concert lol

Hey, it was my first concert...I was 13! A local radio station sponsored a bus and my parents made one of my older sisters go with me. I had significantly less fun because of that lol

Jermaine is the one who loves Michael, but is also very envious of him. While the other brothers appreciate their own lives and their family's legacy, Jermaine's the one who wishes he could be MJ, even though he never had the skill or looks to be anything like him (which clearly has always frustrated him). I think every large family like the Jacksons, with one child growing to be the most successful star, has a secretly jealous sibling like Jermaine who does strange actions but tries to cover it up with "love."

I'd go back in time, make myself your cousin and say "I'll go with her!" with my beat it jacket and glitter socks already on lol

lol

This was also the tour that Michael said "enough". He wasn't even planning on touring for Thriller lol

The ticket set up got a backlash and who got the blame?

During the last number of the last show at Dodger Stadium, Michael announced that it was their last tour and he was leaving the group

.....and he didn't even tell his brothers beforehand lol

I don't blame him, considering he was guilted into the whole Victory thing in the first place. IIRC, that's why his solo contribution to the album was the buzzkill "Be Not Always". Gawd, the first time I ever heard that song I was bawling by the time it was over.

...and it's right after "One More Chance" which is like the groove of the album lol

Mike overheard the brothers and Joe talking about taking the tour to the UK and said "Ain't havin' that" lol

After he walked off the stage and he went up to his dad and said "It's over Joesph!" and that was it lol
