you know... if there's room an a greatest hits CD for a bonus remix, which i couldn't give less of a shit about, there's room on there for bonus HITS, which i absolutely DO care about.

rolleyes

They crammed everything in so it wouldn't exceed 100 minutes.

huh?

also. if they can fit a bonus remix on, they could have fit a bonus hit on instead.

So it won't count as 2 separate albums.
If it's under 100 minutes it will count as one.

Now that that's solved, I agree with you, I'd rather have one more "#1" as an extra like on the import instead of a remix of the new track.

so the international version has a bonus track on each disc. the '95 When I Think Of You remix and Whoops Now.

really, though, that single edit or one of the remixes of State Of The World would have been great. it hit #1 in Japan. and Just A Little While would have been nice to flesh out her more recent stuff. #1 club hit.

I'm sorry, I hate Just a Little White. There's a reason it was her first song in two decades not to crack the US Top 40, and thus began the beginning of her commercial decline. So many people blame the Superbowl for Damita Jo's inability to match the sales of TVR or AFU...i say while the SB was unquestionably the main reason DJ didn't do as well, this shit first single that sounded like Dallas Austin put a coke commercial jingle in a blender killed the project. And i don't believe her that it was 'always' supposed to be the first single. no way.

ok so she still LOVES JD- I have a feeling that he is still hittin that- and that they will be back together as soon as he kicks his addiction to ghetto booty strippers. nod

and it seems that no one knew about just how deep mike was into his addiction and the insomnia and pain that he actually suffered. How disappointing- I know that that eats away at her in particular - i'm sure she feels responsible for what happened too...

- and did y'all catch the trailer snidbit for WDIGM2- WTH? - eek

lol damn.

though i don't feel as strongly about it as you do; i have to agree. i think it was a weak single. definitely not one that should've launched the album. hardly memorable. better as filler or as b-side.

For my money, "Just a Little While" is the best song on that album. I love it. music

The song had a massive bullet at Top 40 radio at one point. After the SB it died a quick death. I do not think it would have flopped had the SB gone off without a hitch. To me it is one of her more interesting efforts this decade - a sound she had not really explored.

The people at work didn't really remember the Mo Money song, or the Busta one.

I don't know how they could have missed them, even I had the cassingle for "Best Things In Life Are Free" in elementary school

it was doing well on the charts at radio pre-Super Bowl for having no physical single release. (this before iTunes brought the single back to prominence). Super Bowl hit, album hit, and she was done.

That remix of "The Best Things..." isn't great, I hate to say. Keeps most of the essence of the song.

Am I wrong in thinking there was a video of the song that actually featured both Janet and Luther. It was them basicaly against a green screen with cheesy images behind them. I found a video but it was basically characters from the movie. I also remember a different mix from the one featured on Luther's second best of set?

IIRC, you're wrong all the way around. lol The version of the song on Number Ones is the original. Luther's hits collection featured a remix. I don't believe there's a video that features Janet and Luther.

the import DOAD includes the remix. i prefer it actually, but it was nice to hear the original, even with the BBD and Ralph Tresvant bits included after all these years.

That was the original? Weird. I could have sworn there was a video with Janet and Luther and that the song was much smoother (the remix on Luther's collection was too dance and the original on Janet's seems to hip-hop). I remember a very straight forward poppy R&B song more in Janet's style.

isn't the '95 version just a smoothed out re-remixed version of this?

very similar. the '95 version sounds to me basically the same, but toned down a bit to take the early 90's house vibe out of it.

It's not getting the promo push from the label that Madonna's got (after all it's Hippo....Top 50 would be amazing for them!). Considering that they might not have taken the interview and the AMA's into account, she could still do better than expected. That being said, the Target I bought it from carried about 5 copies in the far right bottom corner of the new release section....and when I went back today, two were still there!

In any given week, it would be top 10, but there are a ton of new releases crowding the schedule right now and I don't think they shipped as much as they should have. These are very good numbers for greatest hits collections, which have suffered the most from the trend of iTunes single-track cherry picking. Madonna's Celebration debuted with just over 70k, so this is right in line with expectations for Janet. I would say this is going to see even better sales next week given her AMA performance and Black Friday.
