got a few nits to pick with it, like full length versions instead of shorter edits to get more songs on there. i mean, the "number ones" theme (or at least the title) is played out at the point and some other stuff could have gone on to make it absolutely PERFECT.

and it would have been great to get the Any Time Any Place album edit instead of that weak R. Kelly mix.

other than that....

i fucking ADORE it. and, as always, the Control and RN stuff really shines. it just completely fills up your ears and your heart and you can not help but smile and laugh as you're listening to that stuff.

the single version of Scream was a nice touch. even better is the inclusion of What's It Gonna Be w/ Busta.

love it. i already apologized in advance to the kid that works/drinks with me because i know i'm going to be on a hardcore janet kick for at least the next week. biggrin

That Busta song felt like a lifetime ago!

I liked the versions they included. I actually wasn't familiar with that version of "Got 'Til It's Gone" (the intro).

And the video version of "All For You".

I really appreciated the mastering on the Control-era/Herb Alpert joints.

It's a 2-disc set at it was priced at $11.99 at Best Buy (in Canada).

I love the R. Kelly remix of "Any Time, Any Place." I'm disappointed that the Blackstreet version of "I Get Lonely" wasn't used. I still don't understand why we can't get the video remixes of "The Pleasure Principle" and "When I Think of You."

$13.99 at Best Buy US. $13.98 at Target. They were in the same complex but I felt like supporting Target. Didn't even know about the bonus track.

Oh, and at Target, the phsyical copy features the bonus remix of "Make Me". Maybe the new trend with Target is that they will carry all the extras Itunes offers for buying from their site!

It's not a new trend. Best Buy offered 4 remixes of "Call On Me" when you bought the spec ed. of 20 Y.O.. Walmart offered a different "special".

Of course we know that artists have different deals with different retailers. KISS released those 3 DVDs of KISSology, and every retailer had a different bonus DVD in it. Walmart, Best Buy, Target; possibly even K-mart had a different once. I don't know which ones I got, but I was happy either way with it. Maroon 5 included different "b-sides" from their last album at different retailers in the US and Canada and the UK. However, on the spec ed released a year later, 6 of the 7 B-sides were included. (I had them all before that anyway, but still bought it for the DVD.)

Good to know about the Target edition though. I usually buy my music there, and I get it the first week as well for the sale price (although I missed Madonna's Celebration).

I know Janet's albums used to have specials attached to them depending on where you bought it, but in this case it is the special Itunes track. ITunes seems to be working with Target on special releases. The Pearl Jam album is available through both Itunes and Target. The Norah Jones album is everywhere, but I guess only Itunes and Target have the special edition.

It's the radio edit of GTIG, but they screwed up the intro - it cuts in a few seconds too late.

I'm not sure that Target and Apple are working hand in hand, BUT they are two popular music retailers, and people seem to just "like" Target more (vs. walmart). Also, iTunes has the lion's share of the online market because of the iPod and iTunes popularity.

The tracklisting on the back is so funny, how they will make great pains to let you know "Special Video Mix With Rap" on one song, then fail to let you know it is the R.Kelly remix for another. lol hmmm

lol yeah, I thought that was funny. some are so detailed, others are wrong, and some make no mention of what alt. version it was. i thought for sure we were going to finally get the album edit of Any Time Any Place, since there was nothing noted on the back.

Those are all my favorite versions on there though, except I like the So So Def remix of "Someone To Call My Lover" more.

I bought it yesterday at Best Buy, but honestly the motivation to listen to it isn't really there because I already made a more comprehensive 7"/radio edit singles double cassette comp of my own from "Young Love" to "All Nite". If I want to hear ultimate Janet, I play that instead.

Your schitt don't have the bangin' remastering that sounds hot in the Jeep.

My vehicle was almost hopping out of the Best Buy lot onto Shaganappi Drive.

Everyone is gonna do something with someone at this point to make sure they get the "sure sales" and that is the loyal fans who'd buy anything from an artist and what anything from an artist. Best Buy also has the exclusive with McCartney on his live release cd/dvd in Best buy you get a 4 disc set, its very limited, one location already ran out in the city, but 4 discs for 19.99 for someone with quality you cant complain about that at all. Im really disappointed with that Queen "absolute best" from Best Buy, every country has this as a 2 disc version, here its one because they werent big here, AVOID IT. And then theres this Motley Crue new best of that isnt an exclusive though it seems like it is, its basically a one disc version of the 2 cd set from about 5 years ago, however on this they added some remixed songs and a couple from the latest cd. But that Norah was well worth it, i usually dont download shit from iTunes but this i had no choice since i aint going on a hike to find a friggin target.

you know... if there's room an a greatest hits CD for a bonus remix, which i couldn't give less of a shit about, there's room on there for bonus HITS, which i absolutely DO care about.
