Daryl Hall & John Oates Fans?

Any Prince AND Daryl Hall & John Oates Fans? I think it would be so cool if Prince was a guest on Daryl Hall's Live from Daryl's House web series. Daryl had Smokey Robinson, Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), Chromeo, and many others on his web show and it's really awesome.

I'd love to hear Prince get w/ these guys and do a song. Even if it was live and they covered something like "Everytime You Go Away", or "Out of Touch". There's that whole big intro section on "Out Of Touch", called "Dance On Your Knees". That'd be hot to jam on (like he did with "I Would Die 4 U" on the PR tour), then get into the song after.

Or an original w/ them would be even better.

Love Hall & Oates! Didn't know about the new web series...I'll have to checkit out

Finally got to see these guys live a few years ago with Seal (another favorite!) and they rocked it!

Prince and Hall should collaborate on something...that would be cool

Were? They still are. Hits don't equal greatness. The fact that people are still talking about them in a positive way is great in itself. How many people have we just forgotten about over the decades? H&O are still up there.

I love Hall & Oates. So much good stuff. Out of Touch is their best song, in my opinion.

Glad to hear from other H&O fans! They have been under the radar in the last few years even though they continue to release new material and tour regularly.

That last statement is contradictory.

They've been on tour as of a couple of weeks ago, on TV as of a month or two ago, and more. 2003, 2006, 2008 all saw live album releases. They asked Chromeo (who are big fans of H&O) to work on their new album. The new H&O album w/ the Chromeo collaboration(s) is due out any time. They're so NOT under the radar. I'm glad they're still working and out there making music.

Even their album of covers was pretty decent, too.

Okay, so I've totally been fascinated by an article I read that claimed Hall & Oat's downfall was due to an interview that Hall gave discussing his and Oates' relationship. I guess, back in the day, everyone thought they were lovers so Hall busted out with, "nahhh--i had my gay experiences during my youth..as a teen as a young man and it just wasn't for me..no we aren't lovers".

Does anyone remember this and if so, was it really that big of a deal back in the day?

I never remember hearing any gay rumors about them. I always assumed they were straight.

They never broke up. Both tried solo projects, Hall being a bit more successful. "Dreamtime" sounded like a H&O song anyway. They've always been a band.

Never heard that, but I figure their popular downfall (I don't think they had any downfall other than a lack of hits) was because they had just passed their time. The music had gotten overly pop, and their moment had passed. So they'd passed both an artistic & popular peak.

Now, I know they are more than a pop confection, but like some other artists (Bruce, Prince, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie) they also had a short time in an intense spotlight during their long careers, and that undivided attention doesn't last long, even for superstars.

I hear what you're saying. By "under the radar" I simply meant that many people don't know that they are still around! I went to Billy Joel/Elton John concert this summer and Billy Joel mentioned that he once opened for H&O and he said - "whatever happened to them?" My friends, even avid music fans, haven't heard anything about them (in the mainstream media) for a long time. I personally love H&O and have been a massive fan of for over 20+ years!

I saw their "Behind The Music" episode a few years ago, and I've never forgetten when Daryl told the story behind "Sara Smile",then later on went into "Someone Like You" which was about his now ex-wife's sister who died from cancer, on his keyboard..... cry

Yeah and what people dont know is that "do it for love" was the biggest AC HIT on that chart ever, and this is long after their "hey day" so to speak, and that album went gold, silently.
