It's time again for another edition of our Deep Diggin' series on our radio show Midnight Soulstice. We'll be diggin' deep in our vinyl crates to bring you a fine selection or rare and not so rare Funk, Soul, Jazz and Boogaloo ...

We'll also play a song by the orger Christopher CoShea Campbell, also known as Blackguitaristz. Chris hit me up a while ago, asking if we could play his song. Usually, we don't play material by aspiring artists that is not yet slotted for release, (there are just too many), but what Chris has done is pretty neat.

His dad was Eddie Campbell of the 1960s Soul duo Eddie and Ernie. Every classic Soul fan has at least a couple of 45s by Eddie and Ernie in his collection. They were based in Phoenix, Arizona, and they started recording as a duo in 1963. They released some sides on Columbia, Chess, and Buddah, and their biggest hit was their 1965 release Time Waits For No One.
But to most Soul DJs, it is their 1971 release Standing at the Crossroads on Buddah, which holds the most meaning. Chris must feel the same way about this tune, because he re-recorded it himself, playing all instruments.
On this Friday's show, we'll play both the original and the new version. Eddie Campbell passed away 15 years ago, so we look at it as a nice tribute from a son to a father.

I cant wait to finally hear a song by one of my all time favorite orgers....the man who writes the most interesting Prince threads, the orger who appreciates and understands the 1999 album like I do, the one and only BlackguitaristZ ....the writer who doesn´t feel the need to at least sometimes use a paragraph...the man who shows his middle finger to coherence...BGZ...the flow of thoughts king...one of the most valuable orgers ( who needs an editor ).....may he continue to bless the org with his presence and his contributions....

Haven't listened to streaming radio on the Internet in a while, but I'm tuned in now! This station's been playing some pretty good music, gonna have to bookmark this link. Just did some quick research on Eddie and Ernie, can't say I've heard of them before, but they're on my radar screen now. Bring on BlackGuitaristz!!!
