Soul Train 11/13/9

Another early 70s ep. Jesus, when will they do the late 70s and 80s? The guests are the Isleys, Betty Wright and Junior Walker.

You got to see how the Isleys really pimped in the 70's.

If I had to pick between wearing a "Thriller" jacket and a studded Marvin Gaye styled jean one, I'll pick the latter WITH the studded wool cap and the boots! And what! cool

I had just got home so I didn't record it last night but I will this morning. Once again, another "legends" show featuring an "artist that influenced future artists for decades".

Legends and icons are fine but they have been played to death already on the radio, on TV, and in music videos over the years. I want to see something I don't get to see every day. I want to see The Barkays performing "Hit and Run". I want to see Skyy performing "Call Me" with the band holding up phones to their ears. I want to see Shalamar performing "The Second Time Around" and "Right In The Socket". I want to see the episode where Rick James performed two songs and The Stone City Band performed two songs also. I want to see Cameo with Wayne Cooper.

Legends and icons are seen and heard every day on some channel in the media. I want to see the stuff that is rarely seen anymore. I want to see the groups that haven't "influenced future artists" but just got down during their era. Hell, the stuff that people like to label "dated". lol

OK, I finally got a chance to record it yesterday and it was a great show. The Isley Brothers tore up "Listen To The Music" and "Who's That Lady". Now, bring on some Barkays dammitt.

They appreciate it, but they want something else from the late 1970s or early 1980s, come on, you know how we are. I want to see those episodes too actually.

Patience old schools and young whipper snappers, Centric will have to move out of the 70's eventually just because. wink

It appears they are trying to show Soul Train in chronological order (in terms of decade that is) and I'm glad they are. As I've said before it puts the show (for me that is) in a historical context. So I would think it's cool irrespective of your age, you get a chance to look at shows you've never seen, recall the shows you watched, or if you are like me stopped watching "Soul Train" in the mid/late 80's. consistently.

I'm in agreement with Andy, they shouldn't just show the "big acts"/legend's.. show everyong that performed on the damn show one hit wonders, everyone. mad One of the things I liked about Soul Train, at the beginning Don Cornelius use to give lesser known acts some exposure. As the S.T. got bigger (or unless he really like you) if weren't established and successful artist you could get anywhere close to the "Train", I think that was a mistake.
