Nathan Haines - RIGHT NOW

Nathan Haines...

...Right Now (featuring serious vocals by Marlena Shaw)

Don't let tomorrow, steal your joy, about today
'Cause we're all UNDER CONSTRUCTION
So use the brick that you got. Build yourself up
Make yourself higher.

'Cause everybody's got a dream, about tomorrow
But I sometimes wonder why, they never seem to be livin' in the RIGHT NOW no.
We're always kinda lookin' forward to the day, that we'll be happy yeah.
And so you never are. Ha, ha what a drag.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
CHORUS:
Pick those pieces up today
You gotta do it RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW

Pick those pieces up today
You gotta do it RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW

There must be something that you can see
That makes YOU...happy
If you're looking for someone else
To clear up your troubles...FORGET IT!

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

I can sure tell you honey, that good times start with you
Talkin' bout RIGHT NOW
The truth is in you. You've already got all the pieces that you need
So take some time to meditate on your own soul...well

So don't be beggin' somebody else, to come and love you...and make you whole

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
CHORUS
Just pick up all those pieces, that you've already got
Stitch em together, and make a real hip you
How ya like it, how ya like it now

Tell me, tell me what ya see, yeah

Hey I know it ain't easy
But ya sure got to work on it

You got to bring something to the party
Don't always be lookin' for somebody else
To bring the chips and the dips

Don't let tomorrow steal the joy today
Just do it, just do it. I know that you can

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Just do it
I know that you can

Cause I got more faith in you than you got in yourself

Do it
Come on and do it yeah yah

Never let tomorrow steal your joy today
Come on and do it. Yeah

I said we're all under construction
You got a couple of bricks
You can start RIGHT NOW

Use the mortar, from your soul
C'mon and build a brand new you

Don't even wait for somebody else
To tell you that ya cool
You know what cool is

Just do it, do it, do it, yeah yeah

Just do it, do it, do it
Trust yourself, trust yourself

Just do it
c'mon you can do it

I believe in you

Woohoo! Nathan went to my high school (Northcote in Auckland). Remember seeing him visit as a past pupil & guest lead the school jazz band. He'd carve those solos up!
Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

How cool is that.

Also, his brother Joel is an amazing guitarist.
There's a tune on the Right Now album called Hold On (with a great vocal by Tama Waipara) that Joel plays a perfect solo on.

Y'know what? Since that album dropped,I've been checkin out Tama Waipara's stuff ----over the last 2 years or so...Kool! lots of variety--evrything from Rock, Jazz and Soul to Maori tribal stuff...
If you get a chance, check out a tune called 'Welcome To The Show'--
Donald Fagen
would be proud to croon that one....

Here's Tama from a TV performance in New Zealand...
