Old school NE is always great. That song's all Ray Parker, Jr. (instrumentation).

You can tell that it is a Ray Parker Jr. song, cause it sounds like this

All Ray did, was change the lyrics...
"Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Well, I wouldn't say that. Lot's of artist have done this. Babyface, for example. For me, it is the way that it's done. "Mr. Telephone Man", is a great song. Had he done the same thing for a song of lesser value, it would be another story.

There are plenty of good producers who have come up with a "sound" that they've overused. While Mr. Telephone Man does sound a lot like Parker's A Woman Needs a Man (a lot of the same instrumentation, keyboard sounds), it's not reusing the backing track (listen to Janet's "Come Back to Me" and Human League's "Human" back to back -- this is a very similar case). Here's the kicker... check out what John Barnes did with Cheryl Lynn's "Love Rush." It's the exact same backing track as Janet's "Don't Stand Another Chance." Not sure which one was recorded or released first (both released sometime in '84), and I have no idea why he would choose to reuse the track.

It's funny that you mentioned,"Human", it sounds exactly like MJ's "Man In The Mirror".

I always thought that Junior Tucker's version of this track was better....then again, his whole album was slept on by most. Worth seeking out.
