Well i agree on that, but that is not her call, if your doing an indie cd then you are the boss. That call was made by Mr.Reid straight out, you know the guy that everyone pats on the back on this forum for bringing MIMI out again. To me "off topic" there are no GREAT ALBUMS anymore from anyone for the most part, ESPECIALLY in rb beccause of this dumb-ass idea that just because u can get 80 minutes on a disc U HAVE TO, that im sorry has been RB's and Hip hops POISON, that trend still isnt dieing.

Her call or not, it stunts the album IMO. I personally have never liked L.A. Reid and think he's part of the problem.

While live instrumentation is very refreshing in R&B these days I don't think it's inclusion means an album is automatically superior. Still, I'm not crazy about it I think overall In Love & War is a solid album but that's just my opinion.
[Edited 11/13/09 6:02am]

"Heard 'Em All" and "Pretty Brown Eyes" defeats the purpose of an "all-live instrument-featuring" album. Plus do I have to mention she's with Def Scam?

Strike one, strike two, strike three you're out Amerie! lol

Also the bits of live instrumentation that you may hear on this
album is pointless if you are gonna go out and do track shows
live anyway.

is she just now figuring out that radio is sonically segregated? or how about the fact that the genre that she performs in is the dominant one? and is this just sour grapes because she's getting the short end of the stick now, whereas she used to reap the rewards of it?

i mean i like her, don't get me wrong. but i'm not going to sit through 11 minutes to hear her tell me about something i figured out when i was 13.

Even more hilarious when you consider the fact she aint doin nothin original or real and just riding the lame ass gravy train like the rest of today's untalented musicians! lol

The whole Emancipation Tour Prince had has band programmed, most werent even live because they hadnt learned the songs at that point. Everyone says shit like that, they werent even in the studio, collabos, are bullshit anyway anyone who thinks that any of these peeps doing collabos hang are crazy. I have spent the last two decades listen to Mariah say she is fan of everyone "rapper of the day" to know its all talk. It was the same when Prince said he was into EVE, i was like, why are u even listening to that trash.

No its live, Will Buchanan is one of the players, and someone Prince needs in his latest and weakest band.

Many people just don't like Amerie, that's how it is. It's a matter of taste. She doesn't have a strong voice that is pleasant for the ears and the songs aren't breathtakingly different from what's on the radio nowadays.
Are you just a huge fan lastdecember or do you know her?

Why shouldnt you defend an artist U like? I would defend a-Ha to every idiot that only knows one song and then thinks they know the band then i school them, on the fact that they arent some 80's keyboard band the sound changed 20 years ago get your head out of your ass and out of the america marketplace. People tend to talk alot of crap with a broadstroke and then get mad when people defend shit, If i said all rap music sucks (which has always been said on this forum) and then shot down anyone defending the likes of common and others like that, who arent doing things that much different, its just their angle. If peeps can say Rihanna and Amerie are alike, sorry, you havent got a clue, if that were the case then Amerie would be on the mag covers and mtv 24/7 and not that big forehead girl.

On what planet does Amerie get airplay?? Well i will take her voice believe it or not over the likes of even Beyonce, WHY? because i know she is singing, Beyonces vocals and Mariahs are so taped together in the studio and layered and filtered and mixed, they have never calling themselves "soul singers" when nothing is coming from the soul, i wanna hear your damn breath on the mix.

I haven't said she gets played on the radio, but the music doesn't differ that much from what I do hear being played. Not in a WOW kind of way. When I hear an artist's recorded voice it's important to me that I don't start feeling annoyed after a few songs. Her voice stands out, which is good, but I don't long for hearing it. There are plenty of women with strong live vocals that are more pleasant to hear. I would definitely listen to her much more if I would have liked her voice more.

Has, but hasnt always had the best.....we have tended to overrate some of his early bands just because of the nostalgia effect.

First of all, this argument is getting pointless and tired.
Nobody's nitpicking but you. I've said countless times i do like Amerie but
don't sit here and try to B.S the people like this new album is anything
special or different from the shit most of the R&B chicks or urban dance
chicks are doing. Sorry if you don't get it. You seem to be the only one
here praising Amerie for something she's not. Isn't it amazing
you're the only one here who is saying this album is the album of the
year? Why the hell you keep bringing up Rhianna? Musically i don't even
care for her. Ciara is good eye candy and a good dancer but vocally she is weak
and isn't much weaker than Amerie. As far as female artists that do a good
live show would be someone like Angie Stone and Ledisi. I know Ledisi
for sure because i've just seen her live with no click track and all
musicianship. Of course comparing Amerie to Ledisi would be like comparing
Ken Norton to Muhhammad Ali.
