Wonder if they used the same studio effects the Isley's used on "Footsteps In The Dark" like the wha-wha pedals, clavinets, and the Moogs.....

Sounds like it diamond. Milan was a master on the Moog and synthesizers.

Sweet Clyde:
Tonight will be,full of ecstasy, cause it's Saturday night
Lionel: woooo!

Sweet Clyde: Feel so good on a Saturday, Saturday night.
Feelin good vibrations cause the time is right.

Does anyone like the 'In The Pocket' album? I haven't listened to it in years, but I recall that it is a decent album. Not spectacular, but decent.

I do. I find it to be very good but not like their classic albums.
I actually find myself diggin this album more than EWF's Faces album.
I love all the songs on this album except the middle two on side two.
I got to see the Commodores tour on this album which happened to be
Lionel's last stint with the Commodores. They headlined the tour that also
starred Maze and Cheryl Lynn. One of the best shows i've seen.
The Commodores opened the show with Keep On Taking Me Higher from
this album and the canon cracker went off and the crowd went wild.
Lucy and Why you wanna try me were underrated songs.

Don't know why but as a child, I used 2 think I could match the voice to the faces on the album cover if I hadn't seen a video lol. So I used to think Thomas McClary the guitarist sang lead on this song and "Brickhouse", till I saw footage of The Commodores live show and saw that like Buddy Miles, Jeffery Osbourne, Teddy Pendergrass, and Peter Rivera, it was yet another sangin drummer Walter "Sweet Clyde" Orange. lol

I've always like this track. I'm really surprised it wasn't a bigger hit.
"Lady (you bring me up" was very pop! This was a true R&B track.
I could never confirm this, but why did i always feel there was rivalry between Lionel and Walter? or just Walter hating Lionel?
It felt like Walter wanted more control, but Lionel was getting way too big.
And, i've always hated those glasses!!! eek

Yeah this track is true soul. Saturday Night and Keep on Taking Me Higher
were my favorite tracks from this album. Furthermore i don't think
Saturday Night was ever released as a single.

My favorites are the two singles "Lady (You Bring Me Up)" and "Oh No".

"Lady (You Bring Me Up)"
"Oh No"
"Why You Wanna Try Me"

Identity

Great unappreciated track, with Walter Orange on lead vocals.
Lionel lost all semblance of funkiness & soul when he elected to go solo.
I cringe whenever I hear "All Night Long", "Dancing on The Ceiling", and all of those below-par songs he penned by himself.

"Love Will Conquer All", "Stuck On You", and "Running With The Night" are some bad muthafuckas though....
