Michael Jackson's Ghosts

So i'm making this thread so we can all have a discussion of this brilliant and (atleast in the mainstream) undiscussed masterpiece. i was watching clips of it online and just thinking back to my childhood like WOW! i havent seen it since around when it first came out when vh1 and even mtv used to play it ALOT, especially arond halloween. one thing i def thought of was that its definately an allegory for wat he went thru with the first allegations and i never noticed the similarities back then because i was so young. but viewing and thinking of it now its just like WOW. its so creative and amazing. its even forshadowing a bit because wen the maestro "dies" the towns people are so sad and realize what they had. and then he comes back and they treat him better

thats kind of how it is now, he's died but in a way (thru this is it) he's been resurrected and he is getting so much more respect.
he knew it then, he saw it all before it happened and he put it out there for us to see.
Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...
...And i'm gonna be groovy in it!

Do you believe in the death hoax rumor that seems to be going around?

Ghosts used to be my fav Michael video but I cant watch it now knowing that the skeleton is Michael's actual skeleton is just horrible now and then my brain ends up thinking about him now sad

Also the bit where he smashes himself on the floor and kills himself

but it is amazing the special effects, the dancing and the fact that he plays the mayor is awesome.

He always knew how to make amazing videos, it surprises me so few people know about this video

P.S this is so gonna get locked lol

How can I buy this film? Has it ever been released on DVD? In many ways,I enjoy it more than the "Thriller" video.

Michael Jackson was a pioneer of innovative music videos, I bet anything this'll be available within the next year or so.

I really don't think he faked his death. But if anyone was ever gonna actually try to pull something like that off, it would be him. And I would not blame him at all if he did.

He sure did love his scary movies.

I have this on VCD (import from Hong Kong) - not as good as DVD, but better than VHS

i cant see tht honestly
i mean we all know he complained so much about the touring life
but lets face it
the man LOVED to perform
he loved what he did no matter how much it may have sucked for him @ times
i think if n e thing he might have ended up cancelling shows or rescheduling shows but i dont think he would have faked his death @ this time
besides, faking his death means that is the end of him as a living artist
no more performing and giving us his genious
idk. i cant see that. at another more depressing time this would have made sense, but not now
Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...

Is It Scary is part of Ghosts lol

It was written in '93 then the allegations happened so it got postponed

The original (and unreleased) footage has Christina Ricci in the cast

"Ghosts" is "Thriller" for the 90's. They go hand in hand. I LOVE it. I love that he had more technology at hand to create an even better scary movie/video. I love that he played all 5 parts in the film. (Also note that Mos Def is in the video, as the dorky guy in the towns people crowd.)

I thought it was very well done, and the special effects in the film are just awesome, the dancing is the best thing he'd done in years, and the story was a good story line, for a video.

I have the PAL VHS box set, that comes with the A5 color, glossy programme, a CD with "On the Line" (written by Babyface, from Spike Lee's movie Get on the Bus), "Ghosts (Mousse T's Radio Rock Singalong Version)", "Is It Scary (DJ Greek's Scary Mix)". I've never watched the VHS because it's PAL, and I don't have a Region 2 VHS player. There are decent copies of it out there on the usual places. You can also watch it in 3 or 4 parts on YouTube. Find the version w/ the credits. It shows Michael going through make up for all the parts. Pretty fascinating stuff to see him walking around as a pudgy white dude (although you can still see his tattoo eye liner through the latex).

I think with MJ's death, this is bound to be released at some point in the US on Region 1 DVDs. To my knowledge, it's never been released on NTCS (Region 1); just PAL (region 2).

It was released in Japan, which uses NTSC like the states, but it's pretty expensive
