People been lip-syncing for YEARS. This is why I don't understand the big deal. Even great singers lip-sync (Soul Train, American Bandstand, Top of the Pops anyone?). Personally, I think it all really boils down to: 1) vocal ability, meaning the singer's voice is either very weak or almost non-existent to begin with; and, 2) they need to learn better breath control. Swimmers have to do certain breathing exercises to be able to perform well; not that different when it comes to singing really. I think Britney's problem is that her voice was never really that strong to begin with nor does she have any outstanding vocal range even when she was younger; plus, she's a smoker and that's just really destroyed what decent vocal ability she did once have. I've seen old videos of her singing as a kid and she had a husky and mature voice for her age that was pleasant, but she lost that a long time ago.

her "music" has always benn ALL about the dancing, videos and on-stage gimmicks. If her career was based solely on her vocal ability she would never have sold 1 damn album


We know the girl can't sing, and she hardly ever does it live. Her voice sucks so why do people think she'll intentionally show just how bad she is live without auto-tunes and pre-recorded bits helping her out?

Britney Spears' Australian tour ran into controversy before it even began, with an official suggesting concert goers should be told if the pop icon would be miming her songs.

But reports that she will lip-sync during many of the concerts prompted the New South Wales Minister for Fair Trading to suggest tickets should carry disclaimers about whether parts of the concerts were pre-recorded.

Australians would not tolerate a "Mickey Mouse performance", Virginia Judge told Sydney's Daily Telegraph in reference to the US star's past as one of Disney's Mouseketeer personalities.

"Let's be clear -- live means live," she said.

"If you are spending up to 200 dollars (182 US), I think you deserve better than a film clip."

Judge said the state New South Wales government would be happy to look at options such as placing a disclaimer on a ticket that would warn consumers a performance was pre-recorded.

The minister said she had nothing against Spears but felt that concert goers should be told if musicians would be singing live.
