People been lip-syncing for YEARS. This is why I don't understand the big deal. Even great singers lip-sync (Soul Train, American Bandstand, Top of the Pops anyone?). Some don't choose to, some do, and some others because they're more talented in an all-around way will choose it. Now all of a sudden Britney is supposed to be blamed for it? GTFOOH.

Lip-synching has NOTHING to do with music, but with the entertainment business.

The fact that many people here seem to take it for granted that Michael and Janet, among many others since then, are / have been lypsynching, show they take the surface (the 'showbizness', the dance movements, the fireworks, the 'big' choreography) over real talents.

Why not go to Disneyland or watch some moronic Hollywood blockbuster if you are that easily impressed?

Real musical talent goes deeper then that.

maybe for Brit and JJ but somehow Prince is able to do it... wink

I've seen both Beyonce and Christina Aguilera do some hardcore choreograpy in 3-inch heels and sing great and be 100% Live. Patti LaBelle used to roll on the floor during some of her shows and was still singing her ass off Even P!nk on her new tour is doing highwire stunts and singing live:

Personally, I think it all really boils down to: 1) vocal ability, meaning the singer's voice is either very weak or almost non-existent to begin with; and, 2) they need to learn better breath control. Swimmers have to do certain breathing exercises to be able to perform well; not that different when it comes to singing really. I think Britney's problem is that her voice was never really that strong to begin with nor does she have any outstanding vocal range even when she was younger; plus, she's a smoker and that's just really destroyed what decent vocal ability she did once have. I've seen old videos of her singing as a kid and she had a husky and mature voice for her age that was pleasant, but she lost that a long time ago.

Britney has a beautiful voice, may not be stronger than Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Pink and may others, but hers is unique. She just lacks vocal and breath control.

I blame Madonna, Michael and Janet, Britney, and whatever Katy, Gwen and Beyonce for that degredation of music.

Britney belongs in the departement of Janet Jackson.

Ultra-thin voice without character.

Lyp-synching on stage, backed by prerecorded music, as Midisocers videos show.....how low can you go?

Not one vocal on your Janet Jackson videos is really live.

I admit, she is a good playbacker, but for the rest its empty, plastic nonsense.
And most of the music is prerecorded.

I see you like that, good for you: it shows your lack of knowledge and appreciation of music.

anyone over the age of 12 who doesn't know that BS (note how appropriate her initials are with this slang phrase wink ) lip-syncs everything is an idiot lol

her "music" has always benn ALL about the dancing, videos and on-stage gimmicks. If her career was based solely on her vocal ability she would never have sold 1 damn album lol

We know the girl can't sing, and she hardly ever does it live. Her voice sucks so why do people think she'll intentionally show just how bad she is live without auto-tunes and pre-recorded bits helping her out?

i've said it before-BS is a sham and the sooner she goes away, the better off the music world will be lol

Britney Spears' Australian tour ran into controversy before it even began, with an official suggesting concert goers should be told if the pop icon would be miming her songs.

Spears, who has rebuilt her career after myriad personal troubles in the wake of her 2006 divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline, is due to kick off her Circus tour Down Under later Friday.

But reports that she will lip-sync during many of the concerts prompted the New South Wales Minister for Fair Trading to suggest tickets should carry disclaimers about whether parts of the concerts were pre-recorded.

Australians would not tolerate a "Mickey Mouse performance", Virginia Judge told Sydney's Daily Telegraph in reference to the US star's past as one of Disney's Mouseketeer personalities.

"Let's be clear -- live means live," she said.

"If you are spending up to 200 dollars (182 US), I think you deserve better than a film clip."

Judge said the state New South Wales government would be happy to look at options such as placing a disclaimer on a ticket that would warn consumers a performance was pre-recorded.

The minister said she had nothing against Spears but felt that concert goers should be told if musicians would be singing live.
