Latest Concerts You've Been To/ Going To

Sorry if there is an existing thread for this...!

I have been to the following shows recently:

U2

Therapy?

ZZ Top

Walter Trout

All good fun.

I have a right mixed bag coming up, some of which I am sure most Orgers will hate but anyway:

Slayer
Motorhead
Imelda May
Kate Rushby
Joe Bonamassa
Depeche Mode

How about you?
This is not an exit

Not only did Buju Banton refuse to agree to anything when he met with gay rights activists in San Francisco, he's now throwing up an iron wall — and declaring war. In an interview with a Jamaican talk show, the homophobic reggae artists says he's still in "a fight" with the Gs. And is pleased to be engaged in batt

Yep, I love most of his music which has nothing to do with his homophobic views. I'm of Jamaican descent and I'm quite aware of how homophobic the culture is. But that doesn't mean I can't like his music since I don't espouse his personal views. Buju is a very talented artist and I like a lot of his message.

Some people no matter how ignorant they are and how much you try to enlighten them will not see the light for whatever reason. 95% of Buju's music is very positive and uplifting and I'm not gonna stop liking it because of his 5% that's based on some ignorant thought. Prince says and does a lot of shit I don't like or agree with and I still support him. So, to each his own. shrug

Well, I'm not one to blame violent acts on the music that people listen to. If someone goes out and does that they had that intent in them to begin with and that's not the artist's fault and it's a slippery slope to blame artists for the bad acts commited by individuals. Like I said, I don't agree with his stance on the gays, but the attitude in Jamaica, is EXTRA homophobic and ignorant, and his attitude is accepted and encouraged in a way it's not in the US. I've posted articles on here about it before.

Like I said, his songs that mention gays are maybe 3 or 4 in a catalog of 100s of songs. As far as I know, none of his songs are an anti-gay rant like Boom Bye Bye. So it's not like me going to his concert is tantamount to attending an anti-gay or KKK rally. Most of his songs are very positive.

I'm sure that a LOT of artists feel the same way he does they just didn't put it in a song. Just like I'm sure that a lot of the rock acts I like are probably some racist muthafuckas. We all have to choose for ourselves how we are going to spend our dollars and who we're going to support. I still like Buju and would have no problem telling him that he's ignorant as hell when it comes to gays, if I ever had the chance.

Is he sharing the bill with someone else though? hmmm

I noticed that he rarely makes a solo concert, there's always somebody with him,,,,,last time it was Ledisi(who raised a MADHOUSE hell might I say) and a cameo by Teedra Moses and Joss "Mucus throat" Stone.

You'll have a good time, sis nod
