Backstreet Boys' new video BIGGER
This? This I love. I am very curious as to whether this was as genuinely candid as it looks or if they're better actors than they've gotten credit for. I lean toward the first option, but what the hell. I have got the biggest shit eating grin on my face right now. This is the second single off their seventh studio album. Though I am a huge fan, I was left feeling a little lukewarm toward this album on the whole. Though their popularity and market success never really dropped in the rest of the world, they've been struggling on the U.S. charts for some time, and so they made a shift in their sound and production in hopes of regaining some U.S. sales. An understandable, if somewhat disappointing, business decision on their part. This is quite possibly the first time ever that a boyband has been criticized -by their own fans, no less -for being too commercial. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

It's official. I definitely like their no-budget, homemade-looking videos huge expanses more than their big-budget, typical boyband numbers. This video, and the one for "Just Want You To Know" rock my socks clean fucking off my feet and down the hall.

The boys The video is cute and I love that they didn't go over-produced like soo many pop videos that are out today. Nice and simple and funny at that. I wasn't to big on their last album, but really liked the one before it. They may not be as big in the US as they once were, but they still have record sales that nobody has beaten yet and they still sound good together, so I ain't mad at them. Still lovin' AJ and patiently awaiting that solo album which has quite a few tracks on Youtube. Prince Rogers Nelson

Always a possibility, bit given the reception my Backstreet Boys threads usually get in here I'm sure you understand if I'm somewhat skeptical. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

AJ's certainly taking his sweet time with that solo work. I wonder what the hold up is? I must have heard at least an album and a half's worth of tracks by now. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I've seen soo many songs on Youtube from this yet-unreleased solo project that I'm beginning to wonder if it's every really coming out. My favorite song so far is this one: Anyone who can sing those lyrics right to the person who hurt them who happens to be standing in the same room has guts IMO. [Edited 11/4/09 14:42pm] I love the Boys and like to support what they do, but "Sincerely Yours" is the first time a piece by one of them ever knocked me on my ass on first listen. I was just struck completely dumb for a moment afterwards. His House of Blues performance of that song is my favourite. I've never seen this version before. I don't know that I would have been brave enough to do the same had I been in that situation. AJ's definitely got a pair, and I don't think he gets enough credit for that. [Edited 11/4/09 19:17pm] I still have every single BSB magazine, special edition CD Box Set, and album and just can't part with any of it because they have not really changed the quality of who they are as a group. Despite the differences in song styles, they have remained true to themselves, their craft (live singing anyone), and their group. They are the only 'boy band' that hasn't broken up even though Kevin left, but because he wanted to be a daddy and spend some time behind the scenes and not to pursue a solo career. Love the boys forever. Prince Rogers Nelson

Love the boys forever. I like that they've shifted their style over the years. The bubblegum pop stasis is what killed the careers of so many other boybands, so they were wise to try other approaches. Sixteen years in though, and they're really sort of a boyband without precedent. No other group has accomplished what they have or gotten this far, so they have no model to work off of. They're just making it up as they go along now. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
