It's hard to believe that it's the same man that made great stuff like "Passion", "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy", "Tonight I'm Yours", "Young Turks", "Hot Legs", "Insane", "Dirty Weekend", "Gimme Wings", etc.
He did a rock album in the late 90s when he was trying to regain his rock sound, but it tanked big time. He even recorded a version of Prince's "Peach" that was issued as a b-side on one of the singles from that album. Stuff like "Peach" is exactly the type of stuff he should be doing. He sounded really good when he was making hard rock songs like "Dirty Weekend". Andy is a four letter word.

rod should be doing acoustic/bluesy type stuff. his unplugged album was great, he should go back and revisit that style. * * *

I think Rod's thing is he likes that "Cary Grant Swag" meaning he wants to come off like a "dashing gentleman" as far as his personal style.
And since he left The Faces it shows up in his music and it takes away his credibility for those who like to hear his grittier stuff. He still has it in him to go back and be grittier because of his years of doing it. Like I mentioned before Bryan Adams sang "Every Picture Tells A Story" with Rod on some show and Rod kicked his a**. I just heard his version of Cat Steven's Father and Son, a favourite of mine.
That had no soul, grit anything. In the 70's he would have killed it I'm sure. I'm not looking forward to anything from him ever again. He's lost it. It's like the bland gutless music he's singing to has infected him. J records has killed a classic. How the fuck you gonna call that a Rock album? Every damn song's a ballad. He's said he's givin up songwriting cause it never came naturally to him, I think he's just plain old given up.
