TIME FOR A GLADYS LOVE THREAD

One of the baddest chicks to ever grace the stage. Her voice is timeless. Her music ageless. I can't think of anyone today who sounds like this. Maybe Mary J or Angie.

Gladys is the TRUE Queen Of Soul.

A 17 years old girl with THAT voice is def a once in a lifetime miracle love I heard a broadcast recording of her from her "star child" period(A&E biography) and it didn't seem like it came from an 8 years old AT ALL.

She has always been the personification of an old soul,,,along with Aunt Reefa.

She does! Gladys' voice is just immaculate to me. And at 65 she can still sing like that! This is a woman who took care of her vocals well when Ree-Ree, Dionne, Whitney and Mariah's vocals gave way.

I never cared that much for Gladys. Other than an alternate mix of "Love Overboard" and the title track from her last album with the Pips, I was never really into her music. However, I have a lot of respect for her because as long as she has been around, I have never heard a single complaint about her live performances. People still flock to see her. I can't say the same for a lot of her contemporaries.

Yessir!

She was on the Paul O Grady show a couple of weeks ago and she sounded just as good, if not better, than any recording nod

"The Makings of You" makes me, touched gets me everytime. Hand me your hanky Timmy. biggrin Some people are blessed by genetics. Sarah Vaughan was a life long smoker (including weed) and other stuff... the voice never changed. In fact it got better richer. Needless to say if you don't stay within you voice limitations, soon or later you are going to pay for it.
